this is becoming a major problem for me as it shows up on my face. I may be crazy but i work in retail and i notice that people don't wanna look at me or anything to do with me when these symptoms are affecting me, its really weird and its making me quite paranoid. I have been told it might be because of poor circulation as my hands and feet are often cold alternating with hot and very red. My face gets flushed when I'm stressed and skin breaks out in blotchy red and complexion becomes generally poor. Its really annoying me as I have no control over it really and don't really know when its coming on, as I can't really feel it most times, unless i have access to a mirror which i usually don't. I also think it might be rosacea but have been told it is not severe enough.. Anyone else have this problem?

My son has this, but at this point, we don't know what is causing it. In the old days, many people had something called Pink disease and it was caused by mercury in many skin products - esp. products for babies. I wonder if this is Pink disease? The hot and cold hands symptom sounds like Raynaud's phenomenon, but I am not sure that redness and blotchiness of the face go with Raynaud's. Then again, Raynaud's could just be another name for Pink disease? Let us know if you find out what it is. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

This could be rosacea. There is a new body of evidence connecting rosacea with Helicobacter pylori. I had a bleeding stomach ulcer when my fillings were in that I believe was facilitated by mercury. Becaused of reduced (yes... reduced) stomach acidity and reduced digestive enzyme production, this bacteria takes up residence in your stomach or intestinal lining, eventually causing a host of digestive issues, pain, gas, bloating, bleeding, ulcers, etc. I have searched and found a supplement that kills this bacteria and I'm anxious to find out if it would also help people with rosacea. The supplement is: Gastro-Health While we're close to the subject, it's well-known that mercury increases levels of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in both men and woman. Symptoms of elevated DHT include oily skin, acne, thinning and brittle hair, increased muscularity in both men and women, increased agression, increased facial hair in woman, and enlarged prostate in men. There is a supplement that counters these symptoms by normalizing DHT levels: Saw Palmetto Perhaps this information will help someone. If anyone who reads this post ever decides to try the Gastro-Health for rosacea, please contact me and let me know how it works. I know people who would like to know if we can find a natural solution. Thank you.

It sounds as if you have high histamine levels. This means you are reacting allergically to something. It could be food, supplements, fumes or chemicals. I usually react allergically whenever I visit furniture stores or stores with lots of plastic things, especially if ventilation is poor. My face goes red, I get hot flushes and my heart beat rises. Research finally explained why I get bad reactions to Folic Acid and vitamin B12, they both raise histamine levels. Quercetin and vitamin C (the non citrus kind of course) apparently lowers histamine. So does the amino methionine. I've recently found that soya increases my histamine levels big time. I get face flushing, spots, anxiety and brain fog. Food that is known to trigger histamine are; chocolate, pork, citrus. strawberries, vinegar, tomatoes........ http://users.bigpond.net.au/allergydietitian/fi/amines.htmlAlso candida can cause high histamine levels:

Hmmm, it deleted the rest of my post. Anyway, here goes:
Also candida can cause high histamine levels: "Excess ammonia, excess histamine, food allergies, low magnesium, and immune system changes are all associated with Candidiasis and they may contribute to the sleep problem."
Here is a quirky piece about histadelia
HISTADELIA On the physical front, nutrient deficiencies, glucose intolerance and allergies are extremely common in those suffering from depression. One major cause is an excess of the neurotransmitter hormone histamine - a condition known as histadelia. Dr Carl Pfeiffer asks: "Do you sneeze in bright sunlight? Cry, salivate and feel nauseous easily? Hear your pulse in your head on the pillow at night? Have frequent backaches, stomach and muscle cramps? Do you have regular headaches and seasonal allergies? Have abnormal fears, compulsions and rituals? Do you burn up food rapidly and sometimes entertain suicidal thoughts? ...If a majority of these apply to you, you may benefit from a low-protein, high complex carbohydrate diet (fruits and vegetables), 500mg of calcium, am and pm, 500mg methionine am and pm and a basic supplement program. Avoid supplements containing folic acid as these can raise histamine levels."
Some of our much loved stars, such as Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland, were likely histadelics. Drawing from over 30 years' experience, Pfeiffer estimates that at least 20% of schizophrenics are histadelics and these are often the problem patients in psychiatric hospitals, since they do not respond to the usual drug treatments, electroshock or insulin coma 'therapy'.
Blood histamine levels can be analysed and often, the compulsive obsessions, blank mind, easy crying and confusion may highlight an underlying chemical addiction to cane sugar, alcohol or drugs. Histadelics experience high saliva discharge and rarely have cavities. Often they are seen wiping saliva from the corners of their mouth. Excess histamine presents rapid oxidation in their body, and their high metabolic rate and subsequent attractive body shape are sometimes potential indicators for the underlying condition. Marilyn Monroe was often heard to remark to photographers: "You always take pictures of my body, but my most perfect feature is my teeth - I have no cavities."
A high sex drive characterises the histadelic, who achieves orgasm and sustains it easily. Drug addicts and alcoholics also tend to be histadelic. Heroin and methadone for instance are both powerful histamine-releasing agents. A severe insomnia also characterises the condition, and sufferers often use heavy doses of sedatives in order to get to sleep. The sedatives themselves often become an addiction problem, further compounding the plight suffered by those with depression.
DEPRESSION - THE NUTRITIONAL LINK Traditional psychiatric treatments are mostly useless for the histadelic depressive. Electroshock, examined in detail in Part 1, traumatises the patient further. Lithium in lower doses of 600-900mg is partially effective, but does not have greater efficacy at higher dosages. Anti-depressant drugs are simply mood ameliorators and can be addictive. Nor do histadelics respond to B3 mega-doses usually recommended for schizophrenics. B9 (folic acid) definitely worsens the condition.
What has been shown to work however are treatments which modify how the body releases and detoxifies histamine. Calcium supplementation releases the body's stores of histamine and the amino acid methionine detoxifies histamine through methylation, the body's usual method of breaking down the neurotransmitter. Laboratories can test for histamine levels in the blood and this is often one of the first best steps a practitioner can take to determine if histamine is a player in their patient's depression.

Hi Joey, sorry for what you're going through..
I know it's most likely to do with mercury, or other toxins, but be aware as someone suggested, candida can cause or contribute to these odd and distressing reactions.
I would (if you're not already) make sure you stop eating sugar, gluten (wheat etc), yeast. If you have candida and it's causing this? You'll continue to suffer needlessly. If you decide to eliminate the things that feed it, you may find you improve once the candida has been starved out more. Also be aware of fruit and milk (natural sugars) and lessen or elminate these. Potatoes can too with their high starch. But certainly the obvious sugar and yeast and gluten are the main culprits.
Again, you may alredy be doing this, but correcting these things in the course of mercury detox, may make you feel or cope a lot better and find the allergic reactions lessen or even abate.
Not to give you false hope, but it woudl be worth doing. If you haven't done this before, you may find you feel worse for a while as the yeast inside you is dying from lack of food source. It might make you crave the very things it needs to survive, and you may feel headachey, or even a bit drunk or dizzy as they are dying, but just be aware that it's a pretty good sign that your body is eliminating excess candida, which should mean improvement later on.

Are you taking alot of niacin? If not then ignore this but some people flush out when taking certain forms of this vitamin.
I too have terrible skin, oily, peeling, acne and it never clears up. I do not turn red but I do beleive the skin in general is a side effect of mercury interferring with adrenal function and thryoid function. Yeast is a biggy as mentioned already. My cold hands/ feet thing went away with amalgam removal. Definitely something "allergic" going on, I use this term loosely because allergies really are intolerances to things from an over stressed immune system, which is overstressed in our case from mercury assault.

thanks for your replies guys. I went to a different naturopath than I usually do today and she said I definately have high histamine levels, which really does make sense when I look at the symptoms. I think I have suffered from high histamine all my life really and just haven't known about it. Shes put me on a low histamine diet which will hopefully sort me out. This naturopath uses live blood analysis which I'm a bit skeptical about but seems to be fairly effective. The analysis revealed that my blood is healthy! Candida is gone, no presence of heavy metal toxins or other toxins which is great news. I think someone said soemthing about histamine levels in this thread, cheers!

Hi, glad you got the answers! Hope that the diet sorts that out, but you have to wonder what is causing it to occur in the first place (So long as you can control the problem though, at least that will be a big plus).
Just to respond to what you said about mercury/heavy metals not showing in the blood? it is nearly impossible to detect mercury in the body by using standard heavy metal detection techniques, once the mercury has been released into the body for more than a few weeks. This is because mercury quickly binds to the sulhydryl-containing enzymes and other proteins in the liver, kidney, lining of the GI tract and brain. Once exposed to mercury, it only takes a few weeks for this binding to occur, and once it does, no mercury will be detected in the blood, urine or hair.
This was told to me by someone in the medical profession and is also widly known now by many high up in mercury toxicity (such as Andy Cutler).
I'm not saying you are mercury toxic, but you can't test for mercury in these ways. Mercury often just does not show up in urine, blood or hair tests and it can really cause problems because instead of looking at what mercury depletes or disrupts, the medical person will simply look for a level of mercury and not realise they usually won't find much if any.
Then they will tell the person "you are not mercury toxic". When the person can be very ill with mercury. So often is the case.
Anyway, I wish you well with the diet and hope it alleviates this skin problem you have been suffering with!

Bex is so right. And also the problem for those of us with a host of neurological problems is that the heavy metals are bound in the fat cells in the brain area and will definitely not show up on a blood test or any other test.
If one has recently been exposed to a high level of mercury vapour then yes it will show up in blood tests, but pretty soon the mercury gets placed into fat cells and tissue.
