--"Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are the Constant in my life. Lead, guide and direct my steps for your glory."
--"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." ---[Matthew 28:20] -- -- --It's late on a Thursday night. I feel exhausted. This week has worn me thin. I'm sitting at my kitchen table, spinning my cell phone on the tabletop.
--I desperately want to call Rachel. To tell her how much I miss her. To hear just a few syllables of her voice. She used to answer on the first ring. Now I don't even know if she would pick up. I struggled when Rachel and I decided to go our separate ways. Lately, I've been doing better. I'm finally healing. But sometimes, when I'm tired and empty, I start to look back. I pick at emotional stitches until my would is red again. I can think of several friends I could talk with right now. But I only want to talk with one person. Rachel understands me. She knows how I think and how I feel. But she's the one person I can't call. I slide my phone across the table in frustration. It collides with a pile of books. My Bible is at the bottom. I haven't opened it this week. That strikes me as significant. I'm mourning the loss of my best friend. My confidante. But I've pushed away the One who is always there for me. The One who will never stop listening. No wonder I feel empty inside. I pull my Bible out from under the pile of books. A bookmark leads me back to where I left off. But before I start to read, I turn off my phone. Tonight, instead of miring in what I've lost, I'm moving toward what I can never lose. Thank You, Abba Father for always staying by my side.
