Herb Allure uses a network of 8 computers joined together by an Ethernet network to handle all of our business and printing requirements.
We have used many different brand names of ethernet cards and hubs and have found that, by far, the most consistent and trouble-free cards and hubs have been made by 3-COM.
We've tried other brands, such as TrendNET, LinkSYS, and others and have often had problems develop with them within a few months or less. We've always ended up replacing them with the (much) more expensive 3-COM brand cards and seen our networking troubles disappear.
I'm not saying that these other brands are not good. In fact, I know several other people who use them without problems, but, unfortunately, we have not been so fortunate.
Last year we replaced our 8-port 3-COM ethernet hub with an inexpensive 16 port hub from TrendNET and had serious and time-consuming problems for about 6 months. We finally replaced it with a $250+ hub from 3-COM and suddenly, nearly all our networking woes were gone.
If you have any computer or Internet related questions, please feel free to e-mail me. I'm glad to help!
------------------
Russ Tanner
of Herb Allure
