----CITY BANS ABORTION~~

--Lubbock, Texas, just passed a law to outlaw abortions. Citizens of this city of 264,000 voted by a landslide to pass an ordinance outlawing abortion within their city limits.

The vote was 63% for the ordinance and 37% against it. It became the 26th city to pass such a law, 14 of them in Texas. It has joined a growing number of cities under the "Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Initiative."
It should be noted that it does have some concessions where it is permissible, and the ordinance also gives a life-of-the-mother exception for doctors under affirmative defense. It also does not penalize the mother of the unborn child who has been aborted. If the city of Lubbock faces a lawsuit as a result of the ordinance, attorney Jonathan Mitchell has offered to represent the city at no cost to the city or taxpayers.
