Preppers, or survivalists, are a subculture that has emerged in recent years. They encourage people to become self-sufficient in order to be ready for every eventuality, from economic collapse, to biological terrorism, to nuclear war.

---There are websites and companies that provide information and materials to help you learn how to survive various disastrous events. Certainly, reasonable care about the future is wise, but I’m more concerned about preparing spiritually than I am about building a nuclear fallout shelter in my backyard. You see, if we are unprepared spiritually, we are unprepared in the most fundamental way. While much of what people so earnestly prepare for may never happen, we know with certainty that the Son of Man will return to judge the earth. And the best way to prepare for that is to nurture a real, vibrant faith in Almighty God—who also has promised to protect you and provide for you.

--How are you preparing for your future? If a stranger reviewed your expenditures, and your calendar, and talked to your closest friends, what would be their conclusion?

PRAYER
--'Heavenly Father, Jesus is returning soon as Judge and King of the whole earth. Christ-followers will rule with Him, so we must be ready for that role. Teach me to hear and obey Your voice, that a vibrant faith in You might flourish. In Jesus’ name, amen.'
