--- TRUST THE LORD / WAITING ON THE LORD JESUS ~

--"Yet those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
They will mount up with wings as eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
The will walk and not become weary."

--I'm waiting for the electricity to kick on. Like many others in our neighborhood who survived a massive storm, my husband and I are living a back-to-basics life.
Temporarily disconnected from traditional sources of communication, work, leisure, and entertainment, we're reading more. We're eating simpler meals. (Who knew you can boil beans fresh form the garden in an aluminum foil "bowl" on the barbecue grill?) We're finding enjoyment in talking about the books each other has read. .

For the first day or two, we were a little lost. Nothing in the house works without electricity--not the water pump, water heater, lights, stove, microwave (gasp!), or our landline phones. Now even the footrest on my husband's recliner. It's stuck in the raised position until the power comes back on. Now, that's a first-world problem! frown

The electricity outage may last a few more days, we're told. So we've settled into calm and quiet routines. Yes, the laundry is piling up. Yes, we miss being able to regulate the temperature in the house. But we're making do while we wait for the electricity to kick on.

And while I miss many creature comforts I've discover a deeper joy in Jesus as I wait. Time is passing in a marvelous way as I linger with Him; abiding in His presence, and resting and nesting in Him in a way that's not possible with technology always at hand. Waiting with Jesus brings peace, joy and renewed strength. It turns out that waiting for the electricity to be restored isn't so bad after all. ~~
