--"In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God." --[John 1:1] --
--"O how I love thy Law! It is my meditation all the day. --(Psalm 119:97]
--"Cling to the Bible" is a song we sing sometimes. What are we really doing when we cling to the Bible? It is more than just holding on to an object made of leather and paper. Indeed. we should take care of the Bible and handle it reverently, because its message is God's inspired Word. This not just another book. It is irreverent to throw the Bible around or trample it or handle it carelessly in any way. There are people in some countries who have no Bible, while we often have extra copies. Our extras must be appreciated and cared for with a spirit of gratitude.
Of greater importance than how we handle the Bible is how we respond to its message. It the message of the Word is precious to us, we will not get tired of reading and studying it. The Bible contains the Gospel, the Good News of salvation for all mankind. It is our road map to Heaven. It has many great and precious promises which we cling to and claim for ourselves. We can memorize precious Scriptures that will be a help to us in times of trials and temptations .The book of Psalms in particular has many encouraging Scriptures for us to read in various situations. The Old Testament has many prophecies of Christ that are fulfilled in the New Testament.
God and HIs Word are one. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God." (text) We cannot truly love God without clinging to the Bible and obeying it as His Word. ~~
