--TO KNOW THE KING / A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS ~~

"But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."
--"The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

~~~This is an incredibly sad scene. At the foot of the cross we see the Jewish rulers. They were the men who held spiritual authority over the people and oversaw all the activity of the Temple. They were the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They knew the writings of the prophets and were experts in the Law of Moses. They kept all the holidays and ate all the right foods and made the proper sacrifices. Yet here they were, standing at the foot of the cross, sneering at Jesus and mocking Him. It’s a chilling realization that people who think of themselves as religious, who look and act and sound religious, can be so wrong about who Jesus is. This should cause us to pause and take stock of our own spiritual condition. Do our hearts and minds truly reflect the outward presentation of faith that we show to the world?

THINK ABOUT IT
It is essential we know the difference between “religion” and "relationship." Don’t just go through the motions—press in. Our King can be known. How much better to serve a King we can know than a set of rules?

PRAYER
~~"Heavenly Father, I am not interested in religious ritual or façades. I hunger for genuine relationship with You. I want to know You, even in the fellowship of Your sufferings. Give me courage to be fully aligned with You. Thank You, Lord, for paying my sin-debt on the Cross. Help me to never be ashamed of You and your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen."
