~~~AGENTS OF FREEDOM & FAVOR~~
~~“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
--(Luke 4:18-19/ NIV) -- bible
~~Jesus is reading Isaiah’s prophecy about Himself and His purpose for coming to the Earth: to give us our freedom and shower us with God’s favor.
It’s a fundamental assertion of Scripture that God wants to free us from the things that oppress us. Are there aspects of your life that you feel are suffering under the burden of oppression? Don’t try to hide the broken places in your life. Instead, admit them to yourself and to the Lord, and offer them to Him. That begins with laying aside your self-certainty and saying, “God, I have some broken places. I need You. Help me.” The power of God is sufficient to restore you. When you are restored, one of the blessings you will receive is the opportunity to minister to others who are struggling—and that’s a beautiful thing.
THINK ABOUT IT
God’s restoration comes to us in many ways. Think about how God has touched your life recently. Have you used those lessons and experiences to minister to someone else?
PRAYER
--"Heavenly Father, I believe Jesus sacrificially shed all of His blood that I might be redeemed and restored to You. I ask You to release me from anything that limits my spiritual freedom and ability to serve You more fully. In Jesus’ name, amen."
Blessings,
[**Friends, please note that in Luke 4:21, Jesus said, "Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." If the Pharisees and Scribes weren't already angered by Jesus being the Messiah, this certainly upset them even more. Jesus is LORD. Jesus is Messiah. ]
