--I wonder if our thoughts of others are always as accurate as we think they are.
Let me explain. We look across the assortment of people around us, and we see some who look very prosperous. They might have a beautiful farm or business and may even have bought a farm for each of their sons. It appears that whatever their fingers touch turns prosperous. From the outside everything looks ideal; these people have no hardships, no hospital bills, and no financial issues. So according to our calculations they are well off.

Then there are others who appear incapable of ever getting ahead. Misfortunes seem to plague them constantly. Their health isn't good and it feels as if they always need help. So in our eyes, they are unfortunate. Always in need, and have no place to turn.

Let's look at the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man fared sumptuously every day but gave nothing to Lazarus. He had neither time nor attention for the beggar. The rich man probably thought that if only Lazarus managed as well as he did, he wouldn't be in such a predicament. And there was Lazarus--unable to get ahead in life and always sick, but apparently strong in faith toward God. Which man was right in God's eyes?

The rich man actually came up short. As for us, may we by God's grace have compassion on other people and treat each one with tenderness, kindness, respect, and Christian grace. Let's help needy people and do good to all, thus laying up treasures in Heaven. ~~

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." --(Matthew 25:40)
