I'm sorry, but I find outrage as a reaction to this preventative measure to be the ridiculous factor in the equation. I bet you took your kids to get immunizations against measles, polio and hepatitis even though you are against it. As much as we want to look at our children through a Utopian lens, the fact of the matter is kids are having sex. Maybe not yours, maybe not now... or maybe you just don't know. Personally, I prefer to take preventative action and guard against very serious outcomes to the very stupid mistakes we all know kids make. All it takes is once, not all our girls 'sleeping around and spreading herpes'. STD's do not only happen to 'bad' people or promiscous people or during orgies. They happen to eveyone, even those who've only had sexual relations with one person. Preventative measures such as birth control and vaccines are necessary if we are going to get our children through teenagehood healthy and without getting pregnant. You may not agree with it, but do you really want to risk it with your daughter?
