~~~We should pay attention to how we conduct ourselves because our words and actions will be attached to our names forever. When you say the name of a person you know or know of, you immediately process a mental image. You also think about some of what you know about that person. That leads you to tag that person with some adjectives, especially if it is someone you know well: friendly or unfriendly, helpful or unhelpful, generous or stingy, good or evil. For example, what comes to mind when you hear the name Corrie ten Boom? What do we want people to think when they hear our name? Do we want them to remember our kindness during a trying time? Our generosity during a difficult season? Our faith when their faith was small? If “a good name is more desirable than great riches,” we should do what we can to be the kind of person who causes warm feelings to flow when our name is mentioned.

THINK ABOUT IT
You were created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10). When it comes to doing the kinds of things that bring a good name, the Christ-follower can honestly say, “I was made for this!”

PRAYER
--"Heavenly Father, give me grace to accomplish the good works You have planned and gain a good name that brings honor to Yours. Holy Spirit, help me bear Your fruit as I follow through on Your invitations to bless and serve others. In Jesus’ name, amen."
