--THE ROOT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS~~

~~"The root of the righteous shall not be moved...the root of the righteous yields fruit" --[Proverbs 12:3,12].- grouppray

~~~People have no actual roots--trees and plants do. Yet according to the Scriptures, righteous individuals do have spiritual roots. The purpose of roots is to stabilize plants and take up moisture and nutrients so the plants can grow and be productive. Likewise a Christian needs to be "rooted and built up in [Christ]" (Colossians 2:7), or he will be "carried about with every wind of doctrine" (Ephesians 4:14).
He must be "as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out her roots by the river" of God's Word (Jeremiah 17:8). Then the Christian can "[bring] forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1:3). Whereby, God gets all the glory.
God made most trees to grow strong roots naturally. But it is not quite like that for us. Once we are born again, [John 3:3,5,6]. God gives us a desire to put our roots down and grow spiritually. But ultimately He leaves the choice up to us. He wants us to voluntarily send out strong roots for stability and nourishment. Then our lives can bring Him the glory He is looking for from us.
As we "hunger and thirst after righteousness," we will continually "be filled" as Jesus said (Matthew 5:6). The result will be a root system that enables us to weather the storms of life and keeps us spiritually alive even when a famine for God's Word sweeps through the land (Amos 8:11-12). And we will still be bearing fruit, even into old age (Psalm 92:14).
Come on, sisters and brothers-in Christ, let's help spread God's Word, looking for His return. "Even so, Come Lord Jesus."
