I have read in several places that this is toxic. I don't know whether it is, but thought I would post while I remember, so people can read up on it etc and decide for themselves. Since I cut it out a few weeks ago, my ganglion has noticeably shrunk, but it's probably just coincidence.

I have read in many studies that it produces Vitamin E deficiency in test animals. Definitely not an oil I would eat, much healthier oils exist and are tastier too.

Demi, I heard the same thing in several articles over the months--which is why I no longer use any of it. I'ts touted as being healthy, but it's actually toxic in the body.
From what I read , the good oils to use are sawflower, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, first pressed olive oil, unrefined raw coconut and unrefined raw palm oil, hemp oil, etc. The only oil that won't turn toxic during stir frying is the raw coconut oil. Even olive oil --when heated a certain temperature-- turns toxic.
Canola oil is just plain toxic cold or hot.

Not sure how people managed for thousands of years consuming butter, cream, yoghurt (all full fat) and all the other fatty stuff we're told to avoid and they did fine. They had olive oils and all of those things. Meats, everything.
We now get told to avoid fat, or have very low fat diets, when the problem is actually high sugar junkfood diets, too little fat or bad fats and not enough physical activity. The body needs fat and needs it to produce bile also. We are made up of fat, as well as water. Not sure where they get this idea of avoiding fat or having plant oils which can be toxic.
The countries that seem to have the highest fat intake like butters and all those things are france and sweden etc, yet they have the lowest heart problems. As does Italy because they use Olive oil.

I think the problem is that people are getting the wrong kind of fat - mostly animal product fat. This is generally saturated fat, whereas the body needs unsaturated fat to utilize it properly, otherwise the person just puts on weight and gets clogged arteries etc. Nuts, I think, are the best source of fat as they are the right fat and very high in it, but obvious not good for those with a copper or allergy to nuts. Walnuts are also rich in omega 3's. But we live in a society that promotes animal products as wonder foods, so the benefits of other kinds of food are overlooked. A person might be told to go easy on the nuts, but eat a lot of meat, for example.
