Hey Spider,
Thanks for presenting your questions to a forum where people are experienced in this subject.
First, let me say this. Nothing against doctors, but...
Having been raised in a medical family and seeing/knowing many doctors, I know that they are just like anyone else. They will act like they know what they are doing whether or not they do because, not to would undermine your confidence in them
which will end up costing them money. They know this very well.
Here are some answers to your questions.
Do I use Algin before mercury removal?
Absolutey.
Algin absorbs mercury in the colon and prevents it from being redistributed into the body. Here the liver is doing this great job, working so hard, pulling mercury out of the body, throwing it into the colon, only to have it reabsorbed right back into the blood. It's like a bad court system. The cops work hard. The judges say probation.
Don't forget to take vitamin C and E before and after the removal as well.
Has anyone successfully used Cutler's protocol?
I did not use Andy's protocol. I prefer doing things the natural way, and more gently. Nevertheless, I have heard of people using his protocol with success.
I'm a
detox success story (thank God!) and I used a gentle program that I made up as I did my research. I would do it the same if I had to do it all over again.
My "biological" dentist does not use a dental dam. He says mercury can get trapped underneath it and the way he does it ensures no mercury goes down your throat. Has anyone had a dentist like this? Should I run like hell?
I can see his point... to some degree, but it's hard for me to imagine that he could stay on top of vacuuming your mouth enough to keep mercury out.
My dentist made a paste of chlorella and activated charcoal and put a fresh "glob" under my tongue as he switched from one quadrant to another. He also used a rubber dam.
I would ask your dentist exactly how he plans on keeping the metal from going down your throat. Of couse, you can absorb it via the mouth, but swallowing is the larger concern.
I'm skeptical but open-minded.
I have taken huge quantities of ALA (600 mg) for weeks at a time and had no ill effect. Could this mean mercury isn't even my problem? Does this mean when I try to chelate after mercury removal that I will be able to tolerate ALA?
This is probably a good sign. You're blood-brain barrier is still doing it's job—unlike most of the rest of us—and not allowing the mercury to pass. And/or your liver has been very efficient at keeping it out of the blood.
After the removal, I would certainly use ALA after doing some lower-body detoxing. Save the ALA for later in your detox plan. Start with lower body detox with cilantro, for you, you would likely do very well with a combination like:
Heavy Metal Detox This is a great combination, but only for those who have some degree of strength. It's potent so I would not recommend it if someone was very sick.
What about root canals. Should they always come out?
This is a complex question.
The main problem I had my dentist and other very-well educated persons in this field tell me about root canals was that they cause long-term infections because the lower nerve is almost never removed by the dentist. This chronic infection harbors bacteria that produce large quantities of sulphur; Something you don't want much of if you have amalgams in.
This sulphur from the bacteria from the infection draws mercury into the gum tissue causing a dark region just where the gum meets the tooth.
Whether or not they should come out would likely depend on whether or not they were performed properly. In all likelyhood, they were not. But there are other options as well.
I haven't even told my family I am doing this and putting the cost of amalgam removal on my home equity line. They would think I am totally insane.
Starting from the day AFTER I had my removal in July, 2000, I have been saying this:
"Knowing what I know now, I would give everything I own to have my amalgam fillings removed if that's what it took."It has changed my life dramatically.
