Ask Congress: Why Are Most of Our Meds Made in China?
The short answer is that the globalists’ trade agenda has empowered China to dominate the pharmaceutical industry.
"[T]he key components in 90 percent of the prescription and over-the-counter meds Americans take are sourced from a country [China] that our Department of Defense considers a major adversary."
Click on the graphic below to read “China: Making Your Medicine,” the source of the above quote and also the cover story of The New American’s September 16, 2019 issue, to learn more.
You’ll learn chilling details, such as “If China stopped exporting prescription drugs and their ingredients to the United States, pharmacy shelves across the country would empty within months.”
And you’ll also learn about a horrible case of a contaminated medicine from China: “Take the case of contaminated heparin in 2007 and 2008, when 246 Americans, including some children, died, and hundreds more were seriously injured after receiving the common blood thinner, used daily in U.S. hospitals and dialysis centers. As the body count rose, the FDA investigated to discover the culprit: a toxic contaminant deliberately placed during the manufacturing process in China.”
You might ask why aren’t more people aware of this dangerous dependence on China for our medicines? The answer is that in many cases China is the supplier of the active ingredients in medicines, not the entire finished product. Since labeling laws don’t require country of origin labeling for active ingredients, China’s dominance of the pharmaceutical industry is largely hidden from the public.
Who can and should fix this existential national security and public health crisis?
That would be Congress. The Constitution grants Congress the exclusive power “to regulate commerce with foreign nations.” However, over the past century Congress has unconstitutionally ceded much of this power to the Executive Branch. So, in the short term President Trump would likely vie with Congress over fixing this problem of America being at the mercy of China for our supply of medicines, if the American people demand a solution.
What to Do
Contact President Trump (202-456-1111), your representative (202-225-3121), and your senators (202-224-3121) by phone and email, and ask them to take immediate actions to begin a transition from almost total dependence on China for our medicines to a situation where most of our medicines are made in the United States, such as (1) imposing tariffs to protect American producers of medicines from the predatory pricing/government subsidy schemes of China and other nations; (2) mandating country of origin labeling of all ingredients in medicines to enable medical professionals and patients to monitor where their medicines are coming from; and (3) rejecting the globalists’ long-term initiative to build up China at the expense of the United States by ending the Permanent Normal Trade Relations Status for China and ending U.S. membership in the World Trade Organization.

One More Thing You Can Do
Print out a few copies of the “China: Making Your Medicine” article linked to by the graphic above and hand them to your doctors and dentists when you visit them next time. Mention that you are very concerned over how most of our medicines are now made in China, and that you hope they’ll read the article.
Thanks.
