I would like to know if other fellow sufferers get judged by others? So far, I've been called "bone lazy" (by people who don't even know me or see me), I've got relatives who think I'm playing the system and can't get off my rear end, I've had so many things said behind my back or hinted at, that you reach a point where you start seriously wanting to take off and stay away from the rest of the human race.

They had lepor colonies, I wish they'd start mercury colonies. I'm just lucky I have two supportive parents, I think I'd have not made it this far if I hadn't.

Yes, just a couple of days ago my father told me that there was nothing wrong with me. Others have pretty much told me the same thing. It makes me so frustrated that I could shoot myself.

Yeh, im going through the same thing, no-one takes this seriously, except my mum maybe, i think she thinks i have got another illness but she does listen to me and has helped me out in other ways. I dont socialise anymore, im fed up with explaining to people whats wrong, also if im out and about i may get panicky, so i just go to the supermarket or my mums house and thats it, until im better. I have been called lazy aswell. Im no where near lazy, thats why i hate getting symptoms because before i got ill i was very energetic and had lots of interests, the only interest i have now, is getting better.
One of my main symptoms in depression, my mum says i should see a phsyciatrist but i know they couldnt help me.
Its very frustrating!

There should be mercury colonies, we can all be ill together, and we wouldn't feel so alone and we would probably recover quicker because everything would be more positive. I have said this before but going through this alone is really hard, i dont know anyone else in the flesh who has this problem. It would help if it was a recognised disease.

It's too bad we don't live closer, Dawn, as I think we could have been a support to each other. No body really believes me, either, or at least if they do they don't want to talk about it. I'm sure they think it's just another me being "weird" which they already thought I was, anyway, and that I have all kinds of phobias already. I just deal with it alone, apart from what I read here or elsewhere on the internet. But no one in my personal life asks me how I am with it, or if I am better, or how I feel about it. Sometimes it gets me down, but I just try to get on with things. No one wants me to talk about it, or any of my health problems, so I don't.

Yes I've got the same thing going on. I've learned to just keep it to myself mostly. When I mention it to my hubby I can tell he thinks I'm weird. You know that dismissive attitude. And his problems are so much worse and actually real! Ya know what I mean? What really bugs me though, is I've just started talking to my step daughter about the issue, since I've gotten my filllings out and am feeling some better. She has, what I feel, are amalgam issues up the gazoo, but I get that same dismissive attitude from her when I try to get her to look into this for herself. And I know dang well that her hubby would be a total jerk about the subject.
Oh and I can soooo relate to the not socializing any more.

this is why in many mercury toxic people, that if the illness is not enough to tip them, comments from others can. And we have a duty to ourselves to cut those people out or cut them off and be a friend to ourselves and others with the same problem. THe truly good people are the ones who believe in you, even if they don't understand the illness and support you regardless. They matter, the rest do not.

I have found this illness brings out the best and worst in other people around me. I find out who my true friends are and to heck with the others.

It's a horrible illness, invisible and insidious and it can give the impression of you being ok, and inside you can go through sheer hell on earth.

Demi, it would be great if we lived closer, im sure we would get better quicker. Thinking positive helps recovery, i do try but sometimes i think i will never get better because i feel negative, and it could be the people around me arn't helping me by what they say and do.

I guess I am pretty lucky. My wife helped persuade me into have my amalgams removed and supports me through my detox. I have not even discussed it with my family for fear of what they would say. My wifes family is aware and her mom always asks how I am feeling, but I think her dad thinks it's a a bunch of BS. My wife and I have been working on her brother to get his removed, he says he wants to, but has yet to get it done.
I am gratefull for the support we have on the forum. It would be interesting to know where everyone is from. Some of us may be close to one another and not even know it. If everyone thinks this is a good idea maybe we could start a post to see everyones location. We don't have to be specific, maybe just the nearest large city.

Yes its like having a "Earth is not Round" conversation back in Columbus's day. Nice try, however if your sick your sick. I have the tests and I am high in copper and meet counting rules (positive for mercury) which JUST happens to meet ALL my symptoms. I find its more useful to just get them out test according most tests you can do on your own such as Adrenals, Hair tests etc and act accordingly. Might as well save your for breath A)people that want to listen and B) people that will do something to help you in a constructive way.

I agree. When I'm feeling more positive/happy my symptoms seem better. Being around stressed out/unsupportive people can't do much good because stress aggravates and causes problems even in healthy people.

I sometimes feel like I won't get better too and some days get really down, but I try hard to stay positive and clear the mind of negativity. I also try to avoid arguments/debates as much as possible and try to get out when I am feeling boxed in or suffocated by those around me. I go for a walk or sit in the local library - anything to get out of the heat for a while. It helps me escape the stress.

I don't really talk about it much anymore. I do mention is when people ask what I've been doing for the last year. But I don't go into how it's affected me in a lot of detail other than to say lethargy, bowel problems, sleep problems, anxiety etc etc. If I go on about people tend not to believe. So I just get the idea into their heads that something may not be right with amalgam fillings then concentrate on getting well again.

This thread really grew fast. It's amazing how many people feel alone and how unsupportive relatives can be. This is quite sad.

I was well-aware of the blank looks that I got from close relatives when I first talked about this to them. The funny part is that they seemed to think I didn't notice their "blankness".

Ironically, a few have now had their amalgams out and are speaking about how much better they feel. I'm thrilled. I love to see the tables turn.

I would say the main reason so many feel alone in this is that leaders are usually alone. We are on the forefront of this issue and whether we like it or not, that makes us the trail blazers that will make life better for those who come after us, and although lonely at times, it's an honorable place to be.

Let's keep up this momentum.

Hi Russ, thanks for typing that post. That's the kind of thing we need to hear, because this illness does make you feel pointless and life seems futile most of the time. It's only when I get a day where the mercury in me is more settled, that I am able to be even remotely more myself and suddenly being "positive" comes completely natural and i realise how messed up this toxin can make a person's mind. It's frightening and very sad and I hope anybody with this realises that it's NOT them. No matter what you feel, negative, fearful or what, truly it is the mercury and you will not realise it until you get a patch where it has subsided for a little while. It's incredible and now I realise how much a person under this toxin is manipulated. I actually believe quite frankly, that the people who suffer this are probably among the most positive strongest people around to be able to bear a cross as heavy as this, even if they come across to others as nervous and negative or even strange. Underneath they're pretty remarkable I think.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site and from the UK. Had my mercury fillings removed 6 weeks ago (last one 2 weeks ago) have been feeling ill for neally 2 years and have forgotten what it feels like to be well. I have a very supportive boyfriend who has been both understanding and extremely patient but like me has been confused and angry by the symptoms that mercury has caused. I used to tell my friends and family what I was experiencing and how I felt but mostly keep quiet about it now as I get really paranoid and sometimes angry about the lack of interest, blank stares and silence. ( It's like hitting your head against a brick wall!!) And don't get me started on my mother who thinks I'm a total hypochondriac!
I too would love to get away from the rest of the human race, (a nice tropical island where it's hot and sunny would be nice!) and be around people that understand what I'm going through. I've also not met anyone who has mercury poisoning which makes me feel isolated and alone. That's why this forum is great and a real life saver.
We must keep our sense of humour though and realize that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We will come out the other side stronger and wiser.
Best wishes,
Lucy

Hi there, yeah it is good to get on a forum and find other people going through the same thing who know exactly how it feels. It's awful your Mum thinks you are a hypocondriac! I am very lucky to have two very supportive parents and I hope you can simply believe in yourself even if others don't! It's hard enough to deal with this illness on it's own without feeling completely isolated and disbelieved.

Welcome Lucie. Nice to hear from you.

It's so common that people get confused or angry about this issue because this is a betrayal of sorts. We trusted our dentists or modern medicine in general (in the case of vaccines) but they did something we never would have done: They installed in us or injected us with one of the most poisonous substances on earth.

I have experienced a profound change in my personality in the past 6 years (since my removal in July of 2000) and have learned that this desire for isloation from the rest of humanity may not only be due to our interaction with them on the mercury issue, but it may be a direct effect of mercury itself.

I used to feel the same way but now have more of a desire to be social and to interact with people than ever before. This is a first in my entire withdrawn, shy, fearful life.

I hope others on this forum experiece, discover, and discuss the emotional healing that they experience as a result of mercury detox. It took me a couple years to realize it as it was completely unexpected but very welcome.

All the best to you and keep us up on your progress.

My Emotional Changes:
Mercury Toxic -vs.- Detoxed
---
Then...
Anti-social from low-self image. Would not shop for food for days after needing to because could not face people because of the condemnation I felt. Had this symptom since teen years when amalgams were installed.
Now...
No problem whatsoever. Is there a social gathering? It's exciting to think of going.

Then...
Extremely shy. Easily embarrassed. Kept a "low profile". Unthinkable to talk to strangers. Again, did this since teen years.
Now...
Not shy at all. Not easily embarrassed. Not afraid to speak up. Not uncommon to start conversations with strangers.

Then...
Afraid of confrontation. Cowers down from "authority" figures. Hates debating. Could never send food back to the kitchen.
Now...
"Bring it on." I will speak up to authority or otherwise. Actually enjoy debating. Kindly and pleasantly will send the food back if it's clearly not correct.

Then...
Afraid of public speaking. Avoid it at all costs. Blush easily when embarrased.
Now...
"Where's the microphone?" If the jokes on me, I'm the first one laughing. What freedom!

Then...
Afraid of commitment because of low self-trust. Would rather stay un-tied-down and un-hindered.
Now...
Commitment is a great blessing and a freedom that is very much enjoyed and embraced.

There is indeed a bright light at the end of this tunnel!

Totally. Ive seen 15+ GPs, 2 C P Nurses and a couple of consultant psychiatrists, (in UK) one of whom told me 'mercury isnt used in fillings any more'. 0 support from family with the exception of my grandfather.

Lucie and Virago, its nice to see your from the UK. Im from London near Heathrow. The NHS knows nothing on amalgam poisoning, well not the doctors i have met anyway. We have to deal with this ourselves.
I found this forum only a couple of months ago and it has been a lifesaver.

Tell me about it. The first doctor I went to see laughed in my face and told me there was no such thing as mercury poisoning and when I plucked up the courage to go and see another doctor who was considerably more supportive. He spoke to the senior chemical pathologist at Brighton hospital who told my doctor that there was nothing I could do about the situation and was unable to give any more advice! My doctor then sent me a letter saying, and I quote " I am at a loss to know where to go from here" Really instills confidence in the whole medical profession huh. Since then I've had to pay for private tests and dental treatment and we all know how expensive that can be. Solicitor won't take the whole mercury thing seriously either (I've tried to sue through two seperate law firms) The world has gone mad!!
Phew. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Feel alot better now.
Good to see some other people from the UK. Hi Dawn. Thanks for your post and hello to Virago. Thanks also to Russ for your lovely post. I'm sure the support has started to lift my spirits already. I've has a good couple of days and feeling almost normal for once. The sun is shining here and I feel hope for the future.
Just to let you now before I go. I 've been taking a herb called Suma ( Have you heard of it Russ?) Very good for supporting hormones, enhancing the immune system, calming nerves, enhancing memory and has a restorative effect on the body. I've been taking a teaspoon once a day for the past 5 days. May be contributing to my clear head and good mood?

Suma sounds interesting! I'll have to add that on my herbs to get list. thanks!

One I like to use is Butcher's Broom -- it helps sweep out the veins from plaque and also heavy metals.

Yes I've definitely heard of Suma. We published an info-sheet on it:

Suma

Butcher's Boom as well:

Butcher's Broom

Hope they help.

Suma is also known as "Brazilian Ginseng." It's an adaptogen, which means it can help the body regulate itself, whether a condition is underactive (hypo) or overactive (hyper). Here's some more info on Suma

Butcher's Broom is an herb I use occasionally, especially for swelling and the feeling of heaviness in the lower legs (resulting from poor circulation or "pooling" of fluids in the legs).

I've haven't come across any information yet that would indicate to me that you couldn't take Suma if you still have amalgams.

In fact, because Suma helps enhance immune function and combats fatigue, and naturally provides important nutrients like Vitamin C, E, magnesium and zinc, Suma should be very helpful to someone with amalgams.

If you decide to take Suma, let us know what you think. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
