--JESUS BEGAN HIS public ministry by preaching. The message was very concise. He called people to repent of sin and to believe the Gospel. He proclaimed that the kingdom of God was at hand. There was an urgency to His preaching. The Christ has come; His kingdom has broken into Creation.

The same Christ journeyed from Galilee to Jerusalem and endured the scourge of death on the Cross. Sin was atoned for; freedom in the Gospel was accomplished. In His resurrection, He became the firstfruits of the New Creation. The kingdom of God had not just broken into creation; the beginnings of a restored creation had emerged.

The kingdom of God continues to break into creation now. The call of repentance and proclamation of the Gospel have not ceased. Christ's message is the same. The urgency remains. Christ brings sinners to repentance, forgives their sins, and sustains them by His Spirit.

Repent and believe, for the kingdom of God is at hand for us! The same Christ calls us to repent of our sin anew this day and to be filled with His gracious forgiveness. The kingdom of God has broken into Creation; it has broken in to save us. ~~
