Even if you go to a proper dentist you will feel much worse for about 2-3 weeks. After that time frame though, your mercury symptoms will never have the same intensity as they did when the fillings were in.

My ND told me to get rid of my candida by exactly what Bex said, and to optimize my digestion before getting my amalgams out. I did that and felt great after removal. Just eliminating sugar, dairy, bread and most fruit will make a world of difference. I also did a colon cleanse to help facilitate regular elimination which is key when you are detoxing.
Best luck, Sandi

I have just finished having my amalgams out (yea! - amalgam free as of yesterday!). I was at my sickest when I started in January, and it was hard going for the first six (I had twelve). After that it got easier, and I barely had a reaction after the last few. This was with a dentist who took good precautions. Adrenal support has made a huge difference for me, and the diet goes without saying. I was also told by a naturopath to get stronger first - to eliminate the candida and detox the liver - but I didn't see how this could be done without gettng rid of the mercury. The biggest change for me came when the dentist removed a filling that was leaking. Nothing could have made such a difference. Spend a few weeks on the diet and supplement, then go ahead and get the mercury out!
Good luck

Congratulations Anonymous, and good advice too. I was so sick I could hardly walk and I felt better in about 2 months...and then stayed on the diet for 2 years with no results, in fact I got worse. Some ND's like to make you a long term project as do some dentists and candida forums as well. Killing yeast is a very lucrative industry....damned near bankrupted me..and now the dentists are finishing the job.
I would do the diet, optimize digestion and get your elimination working as good as possible, get some good adrenal support and then go for it. Tell your ND that you can't afford to wait that long...just doing the diet will make you feel much better and getting the mercury out will too. And this is a great place for info and support.
Best luck Spiderbaby and do some deep breathing when things seem overwhelming.

I would agree with Bex that, although it is good to get stronger before having the removal, I can't see that it should take that long to do it. Having my amalgams out changed my life dramatically and hopefully, the same will happen for you. It is important to detox correctly but not to harshly. Here, I'll include a couple links that contain information that should help: MercuryTalk.com My Mercury Story http://herballure.com/mmsKeep us posted.

Hi Spiderbaby,
I’m in a similar situation to you. My health is bad, pain, fatigue and anxiety sound oh so familiar. My level of health ranges form being 100% bed-ridden to being able to barely function through the day. On really great days I can get out of the house for a little bit. I have been unable to work full-time for 3 years.
I will be getting my amalgams out starting in 2 weeks time. I have chosen to do this as I really don’t see how things could get much worse. And as you mentioned, how can you get better if you are constantly being poisoned? I have tried many, many things and this is the next best option I see available. I am trying to help my body become as strong as it is able to be with supplements and then hoping for the best. I am also on a very restricted diet.
I wish you lots of good health in whatever you chose to do!
Cheers, Karen <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
