I had my second quadrant of amalgams removed Wednesday morning. Thursday I woke up feeling like I had been drugged. I was exhausted and many of my symptoms were exaggerated...I hurt all over, and stayed home from work. I thought I would be okay, because my dentist uses extra suction and additional fresh air, an oxygen mask and big goggles. The assistant practically drowns me with water. I also wore a light jacket, which I removed afterward, and covered up with their blanket to reduce the contact. I also washed in the bathroom and used a detoxifying mouthwash afterward. Friday morning I felt okay, and went to work, but by the afternoon, I was just feeling "yucky". Then, about 2 P.M., I started itching, first my scalp, then my arms and legs, then my back...etc...etc. It felt like a severe allergy attack. It lasted for about 3 hours, then I just felt "icky" most of the evening. I was careful to take all my suppliments, especially the Vit C and Algin. Has anyone else had this reaction?

I had a rash and very itchy spots after amalgam removal, I got five silver fillings removed over the period of a month. I presumed that the spots was a result of some of the toxins coming out of my skin <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Yes, the mercury is coming up onto the skin. Sometimes after you've had amalgams removed, the body can then begin to give up its load of mercury, which sometimes consists of detoxing through the skin, causing itching and sometimes coinciding with the mercury rash as well. It is actually a good sign. You should find that using supplements might encourage it to worsen, due to encouraging further detox. If you are interested in getting on a detox/chelation protocol and would like to know of one that is being proven to be one of the safest and effective ways to go, there is a website called frequent dose chelation you might be interested in if you decide to persue that. You can check it out and look at the files and links section on that site and see what people are doing and how they are detoxing mercury. Here is the link if you are interested. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/It's just one of many chelation options, but has the added benefit of years of testing and is often used on austic children, as well as mercury toxic adults.

I view the post-amalgam removal itching as a good sign. Your body is detoxing on it's own and it's doing it via the skin as well. This is good.
Keep us posted.

I was advised to go home and shower and wash my hair and all my clothes right after removal to avoid ingesting any unnecessary mercury.

Sandy: I would like to go home to shower, but unfortunately my dentist only does amalgam removals in the morning, and I have to go to work right after.
