Its the same in UK. My doctors thought I was either stressed, mad, hypochondriact or an attention seeker. My friends just thought I was making it up. My dentist was convinced that mercury was safe and that I had some other illness. My eventual route to recovery started from a "joke" story in the Fortean Times magazine - it described my symptoms exactly as chronic mercury poisioning! Whats wrong with these people?? I've had no success with the NHS either. I even mentioned to one that the german and swedish recognise this, and he fobbed it off with "well the germans have two times the amount of medicine we have!", as if that nullified the possibility of mercury leaking from amalgams, or that having that amount of medicine was even bad. I went to my local hospital to get my gut looked at and I described it to them, they at least admitted I may be sensitive to the mercury. I talked to one private dentist, and they fully recognised the amalgam problem, and even had a tick box on their registration form stating amalgam remove as the reasion for joining. However, I could not afford to go private, so I went with my NHS dental practice. I didn't even mention why I wanted them removed. I didn't fancy an argument, I just wanted them removed. That probably wasn't the best of moves, but I only had 3 fillings and my symptoms didn't seem as bad as some others.
