It's the same for me. I don't know what my family think, whether they believe me or not. I know my friends don't, not really. They aren't supportive and change the subject when I bring it up. Because a lot of people have fillings are aren't sck, and because the dentists still use it, I think it's hard for people to believe us.

It's a tough thing to deal with, and some days I wonder myself if it's really mercury causing my problems - even though I know it is. Then there is my doctor who, if she believes it (has never said it isn't and encouraged me to get my root canal tooth out, which is more than some doctors will do) can't support me because she's NHS.

My mother is really ill, and I am convinced it's from the fillings, but my parents don't want to hear about it. This is painful to deal with, but I just have to accept I can't make decisions for other people, even though it hurts and I think what a waste of her life not to get her teeth out and get better.

I try not to get angry or bitter at the dentists who did this, but some days I am so mad because of the suffering they have caused my mother and my family in so many ways - but mainly because that's the pain. It breaks my heart to see my mother how she is, so bad I can't look at her sometimes, all the time knowing dentists did it. I honestly don't know what I would say to her dentist if I met him. I can't promise I would be civil, because there is so much hurt and I blame him, even though I know it is not his fault. But she is so sick and didn't desrve to be because she is one of the kindest women anyone could hope to meet. I have tears in my eyes right now thinking about what dentists have done to her, and I just have to switch off and think of something els ewhen I get to this stage because it hurts too much. If she would only accept it and do something about it, then it would be easier to deal with.
