Hi Dawn. Sorry to hear of this. Having to be a mum and dealing with this is pretty darned heroic in my opinion. Many of us are basket cases and cannot even handle being on our own, let alone trying to bring up a family.
I hope you can begin chelating with DMSA as soon as possible. I can't promise it will be easy, though for some it actually can help with symptoms, others of course it can cause further aggravation as it's moving the mercury around and out. Taking it every 4 hours around the clock reduces this as much as possible, but the more toxic you are, then the more symptoms you'll have.
If you can just use a reasonable dose, not too high (like 25 mg, or less preferably) and monitor yourself carefully. If you don't like what's happening, you can just stop the round and wait and try again in a few days (or some other time). It's a bit annoying to have to set an alarm to take it every 4 hours (especially at night), but taking it any other way is more risky.
If you are on a round and you miss a dose, don't keep going, stop the round and wait for a few days before starting the round from scratch. Some people miss a dose and just continue taking it and it's a bad move. It just causes more redistribution.
They use DMSA on children also in this condition (particulary autistic kids). DMSa itself is usually fine, but the mercury it's moving is the problem. So if you use it according to this protocol of every 4 hours, you should be ok. But again, the more toxic you are, the more symptoms you will get, so many of us have a tough time regardless of what we do.
