--ISRAEL BUILDS A WALL ~
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced the final phase of construction has begun on a 20-feet-high steel barrier that will run the full length of Israel's frontier border with the Gaza Strip. The wall will extend 40 miles along the Gaza border and also includes "smart" security features that can detect underground tunnels. Netanyahu advised, "The barrier will prevent terrorists from Gaza from penetrating into our territory on the ground."
Construction began in 2016, and they expect to complete it this year at a cost of $833 million. ~

 --ISRAELI / US WAR GAMES ~~
300 US and 400 Israeli soldiers just finished a week-long military exercise to prepare for deployment of US troops in Israel. The drill, dubbed Juniper Falcon, is part of an ongoing strategic cooperation between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the US Army.
"The objectives of the joint exercise were to increase the coordination between the armies, to practice orders and procedures in times of emergency and to deepen the familiarity between the forces," said Brig. Gen. Ran Kochav, commander of the Israel Air Force's Air Defense Division.

--RISING WATER LEVELS~
~For the first time in almost 30 years, the Sea of Galilee is set to be full this year. Thanks to two years of higher than average rainfall, the lake will reach its capacity this summer and be considered full. The Sea of Galilee used to serve as Israel's main source of fresh water, but due to low lake levels, that has changed over the years to other water sources including desalination. ~
