Hi,
I am having my Amalgams removed in 10 days (I have 5 of them) and wanted to know what I should be doing now and right after the procedure. I have ordered a couple of bottles of Algin and Cilantro liquid. I also have Vitamin C and Vitamin E bottles as well. I just want to make sure I do this right. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, you're taking some good stuff, but cilantro in some people can be risky, worsening some, helping others, so it's just not a sure thing in my opinion. I would forget the cilantro for now. You will have too high body burden of mercury to start using something that can too easily go into the brain and nervous system like cilantro can (taking mercury with it). You might get away with it later once your body burden has been reduced. All you can do now is eat as healthy as you can, take many antioxidants, minerals (eg zinc and magnesium) and vitamin B and if possible milk thistle. You take them 3-4 times daily due to the fact this is the way they work properly and mercury toxic people use them up quickly. Do not take vitamin C near a dental appointment, it erases the effects of anesthetic and you will feel pain. So two days before, stop taking vitamin C. Restart it right after the job has been done. Once the amalgams are out? I cannot recommend to you highly enough a mercury forum that many people are joining. They are using a safe mercury detox protocol and some/many of these people have been injured by other mercury detoxes. So this one is proving the safest around. you keep taking the supplements, but begin to bring onboard a chelating agent called DMSA (or DMPS if you can get it). DMSA is easily available, online too. Most people can start using it about 4 days or longer after the last amalgam removal. You have to wait 4 days or more, just in case some mercury was swallowed and you have to allow the body to eliminate the first bits of it before using chelation. The group is called http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/On this group, you will find just about all information you will need to rid your body of mercury safely and appropriately, without moviing MORE of it into the brain and nervous system. The method used is quite simple. Simply using DMSA at a low dose (preferably 25 mg or lower at first). You take a pill every 4 hours (even through the night). You do this for about 3 days or up to a week (most just do three days). Then you take a break of the same amount of time (or more if you want) and do it again and continue to do this for months. This can begin to reduce the blood and tissue levels of mercury and I believe sometimes some organs, but mostly it just clears the outer areas of the body. Later on, when your body levels are reduced, people can add an antioxidant called alpha lipoic acid. This is the one that clears the brain and organs of mercury, but must be used much later on because it can move mercury INTO those areas if you have too high body level of mercury (as can cilantro). AT any rate, you can go on that website if you like and read the files and links section and judge how you feel about it. You may not wish to pursue this, but thought I would put the option out there for you. Note: In many people, after amalgams have been removed, they can feel better and think they are ok. Sometimes, about half a year or more down the track, the symptosm of mercury can return and become EXTREME. This is because the body begins to dump the storage that's been sitting there and you can feel repoisoned. This is known as the "second stage of suffering". So, it's a good idea to begin chelating soon after your last amalgam has gone and reduce this from occuring and get healthier sooner. (and don't forget after the dental appointment when you get home to take off the clothes you wore, put them straight into the wash and get into a shower and wash every bit of yourself thorougly, due to exposure to vapor in the dental office). It gets onto your skin, into your nose eyes and on your clothes and shoes. That's how bad this stuff is. Sorry for the length of this post, but I try and be as thorough as I can with people going through this and to avoid unecessary extra problems. best wishes and hope all goes well for you.

Hey DM, I would take make sure you're taking Algin 48 hours before the removal. I would take it 4 times daily... between meals and once before bed. I would take 1500 to 2000 mg each time. That's 3 to 4 capsules 4 times daily if you're using NSP Algin , which I recommend. I would also be taking 3000 to 8000 mg of Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids daily (depending on body weight) but not within 48 hours before the removal. Vitamin C can interfere with local anestesia. 24 hours after the removal, start taking Vitamin C again. I would also be taking about 400 iu of Vitamin E daily. I would not take Cilantro until a couple weeks after the removal. I would stay on a good diet, drink lots of water, and if you feel strong after a couple weeks, you can start with the cilantro. If you take it when you're not reasonably strong, you could get very sick, so be careful because cilantro mobilizes mercury... good for detox but take it slow. Hope this helps and please keep us posted.

Hi
I personally have had tremendous success with cilantro. But, DON'T use it after amalgam removal. Cilantro and ALA are the only two substances known to effectively pass the blood-brain-barrier and mobilize heavy metals here. BUT, it can also take metals along with it INTO the brain from your body stores. And these don't even need to be high as the metal from body tissue "frees up" much easier and faster than the fatty tissue in the brain area.. From what I have gathered cilantro is just as effective (if not even better <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) than ALA to reach the brain area. With ALA it is recommended to not start with this until at least 3 MONTHS after removal. The same should definitely be said about cilantro too..........Metal detoxing must be done with the outmost caution. You really can do irreverseable damage if you do not educate yourself thoroughly and find the safest protocol there is. Try and find info-sites on the net which don't sell anything, which can give you somewhat of a neutral view about the detox issue (or users experience such as on this forum). These are far inbetween, but will give you the important hard facts......

Thank you all for the useful information you have provided. I appreciate it very very much. It is difficult enough dealing with the effects of mercury poisoning, so I want to make sure I do everything right going forward. Again, thank you all.
One question though: What is DMPS and DMSA?? At what stage is this taken and where is the best place/site to buy it?

DMPS and DMSA are chelating drugs. They pull mercury out of the body areas, tissue and blood etc. But they must be taken the right way. You can get hold of DMSA online at http://www.vivagen.net/This website is probably the best and cheapest to get DMSA. It is available in one of the lowest doses (25 mg), which is the dose you will want. That way you can split it in half if you want to taken an even lower dose. But again, the link that I posted you earlier for the frequent dose website has all available information on there in the files and links section. You can start chelating almost immediately. Just as long as it's been 4 days or so since you had your last amalgam out.

Hiya DM,
just a bit of conflicting information about the vitamin C before removal, i agree that it may effect the anesthetic for some people but my doctor swears by it and the day before i went in for my removal both times as i had to go in twice she put me on a 20 000mg IV of vitamin C and i must say it never effected it in the least, in fact i felt quite uplifted, i was terribly nervous of going through with the removal but the vitamin C - not sure if it was a placebo effect - grounded me and calmed me down. Another thing id research thouroughly is the DMPS, ive read alot of HORROR stories about people who have had severe reactions to the stuff, go to DMPSbackfire.com scary stuff. Dont want to sound like a profit of doom but as posted earlier just make sure you know all the facts so that you can make the right decision.
Best wishes and good luck!!!

Hi, as far as I know, IV vitamin C is different from the oral vitamin C. So it might not have that same effect with anesthesia. But many people have used vitamin C on the day of a dental appointment and felt pain and had to have more and more injections to to try and numb the area. It's just not worth the risk. You can take as much as you want after it.
