Hang in there anonymous!!! I also coudnt afford mercury filling removal- but I figured- HECK- im getting it done anyways!! I just ended up doing not the best way-- by going to an ordinary dentist (who refuses to use mercury in his practice) but I had him do all the correct protocols (by using a rubber dam while drilling out metal fillings, and by having him use a high suction drill so that any mercury bits were quickly sucked up while drilling them out.
I paied about $95.00 a dental visit on average for two metal fillings removed per visit. It took me from May 2005 to September 2005 before all 8 fillings were replaced. Getting it done gradually for me seemed to help my body cope and not go into shock. I made sure to supplement with Algin and Vitamin C with bioflavonoids, and activated charcoal beforea and after each visit. I also drank alot of fluids afterwards, and I kept my eyes covered with eye glasses and covered my hair with a bandanna during the drilling. I rinsed my eyes with canned saline solution in the car after each dental visit When Home, I quickly showered/shampooed.
My dental insurance did not cover for the composite fillings.
I even ended up putting my last 2-3 visits on credit card- but paid them off.
It was worth it- I only make $7.50 an hour paycheck. it will help keep you out of the nursing home when you are older, so it is actually a wise $$ investment!
