"Studies on animal and humans show that mercury is continuously released from dental amalgam and absorbed by several body tissues. It is widely accepted that the main source of mercury vapor is dental amalgam and it contributes substantially to mercury load in human body tissues."... "In sum, a number of studies are methodically flawed drawing inaccurate conclusions as to the safety of dental amalgam."My CommentsIt is well-known that some studies—particularly those funded by organizations having special interest—are flawed and come to erroneous conclusions. This happened with Searle, the developer of the popular sweetener NutraSweet. Sixty Minutes, the popular news show did a story showing how an FDA mandated test on a component of NutraSweet, phenylalanine, was intentionally botched. Sixty minutes showed that a lab scientist was paid about $30,000 to report that rats were consuming food containing phenylalanine when in fact, the lab animals ate around phenylalanine crystals because they were too large and too hard for the animals to eat. The scientist deliberately lied by reporting that the animals ate the food which eventually resulted in the study concluding that NutraSweet is safe when in fact, there are serious and well-documented concerns about life-threatening health risks associated with it. I saw this story myself when it first aired. Donald Rumsfield, the current Secratary of Defense for the United States, was president of Searle when FDA approved it's distribution under very suspect circumstances: Sweet Misery, A Poisoned WorldThese same kinds of deceptions have been spun from the American Dental Association (ADA) concerning mercury from amalgam (a.k.a. "silver") dental fillings who continues to claim they are safe even though highly-toxic mercury escapes from the filling surfaces 24/7. The popular QuackWatch website, well-known as a misinformation front for the pharmaceutical industry, has also supported the misleading and deceptive ADA position. Of course, the pharmaceutical industry derrives enormous revenues selling drugs used for diseases that are actually rooted in mercury toxicity. You do realize that the book and movie you reference as sources are works of opinion, right?
And Quackwatch being a front for the pharmaceutical industry... you're joking, right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
