I've been wondering lately if cheese has the same effect on mercury excretion, similar to milk?

I originally saw this information about milk in a video by Dr. Haley that I have. Unfortunately it does not get very specific and he even says that they do not know what the mechanism is that causes milk to interfere with mercury excretion. I'm pretty sure they don't even know if cheese has the same effect.

From Dr John Matsen's book, Eating Alive II....

"Some of the sulphur-carrying enzymes that are inhibited by mercury are xanthine oxidase and depeptyl peptidase--which play a key role in digestion of the casein of milk products and an enzyme that digests gluten in grains."

This is why many of us develop candida and have problems digesting dairy and gluten.

I read that it is the casein protein in milk that is the problem, and that's going to be in cheese aswell. When they make cheese, they separate the casein and whey protein, and that might be why a lot of people are okay with whey protein. I've also read, however, that it is just milk some people have problems with. Ricotta cheese is, I think, mostly whey protein. I don't know about the different animal milks.

Autistic children have benefited from a dairy and gluten free diet, and that might be a tie in with the mercury. I heard the other day that some expert has found that autistic children have a measles virus in their stomach and it's that causing the autism, not mercury. Anyone know more?

All I know is that I am showing significant improvement since I got my fillings out (10 out in Feb-Mar) and I eat a lot, and I mean a lot, of raw dairy products (~5 servings a day on most days). I drink a lot of something called Kefir (like yogurt) made from raw Jersey milk. I also eat a good amount of raw sheeps cheese. Dairy is actually my main source of animal protein.

My mental symptoms have improved greatly and my physical discomfort has lessened. I can tolerate exercise a lot better as well and fall asleep easily. The only isolated supplement I take is Methylcobalamin, all my nutrition comes from food and herbs.

Supposedly there is a big difference in the type of Casein from modern breeds of cows (holsteins) and traditional breeds of cows (jerseys and guersneys). The type of casein from in traditional breeds is very similar to the type found in sheeps and goats milk. Search A1 and A2 casein for info.

But everyone is different...and I personally wouldn't consume dairy if I didn't have access to the high quality raw grassfed dairy that I am currently consuming.

I even tried a raw milk fast a few times, where I drank nothing but a gallon of raw milk in a day and the next day I felt fantastic, fresh and happy, so thats how I know personally that raw milk is great for me.

Hey, gdawson, that is great to hear! A while back, I thought I was having a problem with milk, but that was temporary. I, too, drink only raw milk, and goat's milk at that, as I am lactose intolerant to cow's milk - although that seems to be lessening since I got my amalgams out in Feb. The raw goat milk doesn't seem to cause any problems.

Maybe it's an individual thing? Perhaps some tolerate the casein, but not the gluten or something else? I have a real problem with citrus, and so it's hard for me to find fruits I can tolerate. I'm trying grape juice now, as I get so tired of water all the time, but it's experiemental because it's hard to find something I can drink without getting rhinitis. I don't currently drink tea or coffee. I have a couple of cokes or soda at the weekend, but all other times I drink water with a rice protein shake once a day (if I don't feel I've had enough protein from food) or maybe the odd hot chocolate.

I don't have dairy (unless I'm eating out and there's nothing else to have except something with dairy in it), so the only animal food I eat are eggs, and then mostly only the whites as I get a reaction to the yolk, and I'm on a low gluten diet, so the only wheat or gluten I have now is in veg slices I have with salad. I have crispbread instead of regular bread, which is okay with soup as it softens when dipped in.

I'd like to try some of the raw foods recipes, they look really yummy some of them i.e. pizzas and burgers, but I need to improve my cooking skills 99% before I even try, lol, as I am a dreadful cook. But I definitely always feel better when I eat cold foods rather than hot. I don't know whether it's because hot releases more mercury from the fillings, but I always feel better after salad type meals than hot meals, so I have lettuce about 4 times a week now with bean casserole, veg-slices or egg-white. Also salad is lower in carbs than hot meals. I have organic iceburg or romaine lettuce.

I try to have a low copper diet, so I don't have much seeds or nuts, although I am very partiial to pistachio nuts, and ate 30 just today, lol, but I only buy a 150g bagful say once a month. I love cornflakes, but have organic, and for lunch I generally have a variety of Lentil soup ie with tomato, or with parsley or with veggies. A couple of nights I have veggies with vegetarian-chicken pieces or fries with peas and fried egg. Not a very "varied" diet, but considering the restrictions I'm on, I'm pretty happy with it. Dessert is harder, so I mostly have custard with gluten-free cake and the occasional soya ice-cream, but I try to avoid soya as much as I can. I sometimes have baby fruit purees, but need to try them more often to see if I can tolerate them. For supper I'll have maybe a couple of gluten-free cookies or another bowl of cornflakes, depending if I'm hungry or not. I am terribly weak on chocolate, so I am ashamed to confess I have a bar of dark chocolate raspberry ruffle almost every day, lol

I've come to the conclusion that the reason I've been losing weight is because I'm not getting enough fat in my diet - I used to have a lot of dairy. The recommended amount is 70g for a woman a day (I doubt that is true for me as I'm only a small woman) but I've only been getting about half that lately.

So, I'm going to have to change my diet to accommodate this. It's tricky because I don't want high copper, so I'm going to try about 80g a day of high fat nuts with a bowl of cornflakes and reduce the amount of beans I have to one or two portions a week and see how it goes. I have a hard time chewing nuts because I have a poor bitem, chipped (from bruxism) and missing teeth that makes it difficult to chew hard things, but I'll either chop them small or buy a bag of chopped nuts and add them to my cereal.

NOt sure if cheese is the same as milk in regards to mercury excretion. Perhaps better to lessen or avoid it in case. But i'll tell you this. My experience with cheese has been pretty bad lately. My vivid dreams, bad as they are, have been inundated with nightmares about MICE.

so cheese is OUT for me.

This reminds me of what my grandmother always used to say - don't have cheese before bed as it makes you dream

I read the other day that it's best to have a low protein supper just before bed because that helps people to sleep (so long as it's not high in sugars etc aswell). I don't know if it's true, but it could tie in with the old wives tale on the cheese? (which is quite high in protein).
