~~~~~I Can't understand it. I honestly cannot. Why did Jesus [die on the Cross]? Oh, I know, I know. I have heard the official answers. "To gratify the Old Law." "To fulfill prophecy." And these answers are right. They are. But there is something more here. Something very compassionate. Something yearning. Something personal.

--What is it?

Could it be that His heart was broken for all the people who cast despairing eyes toward the dark Heavens and cry the same "Why?" Could it be that His heart was broken for the hurting?....

I imagine Him, bending close to those who hurt. I imagine Him listening. I picture His eyes misting and a pierced hand brushing away a tear...He who also was once alone,...yes, Jesus understands. He did it just for you. (John 3:16)

--SITUATION~
--Jesus ministered to the most important people and the most despised people in town. His power surpassed demons, sickness, and death.

--OBSERVATION~
Although Jesus brought life to those who were physically dead, He spent most of His energy reaching those who were spiritually dead. He wanted to give them a a new spiritual life.

--INSPIRATION~

The funeral had begun. The people thought the best Jesus could do was offer some kind words about Jairus's girl. Jesus had some words all right. Not about the girl, but for the girl.

--"My child, stand up!"

The next thing the father knew, she was eating, Jesus was laughing, and the hired mourners were sent home early...

He'll do it again, you know He's promised He would. And He's shown that He can.

-"The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout" (1 Thessalonians 4 verse 16).

-The same voice that awoke the boy near Nain, that stirred the still daughter of Jairus, that awakened the corpse of Lazarus--the same voice will speak again. The earth and the sea will give up their dead. There will be no more death.
