---WALK PROTECTED~~

-[1 Peter 5:8-9 (NIV®)]
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. . . . bible

Occasionally a news report will come out of Africa about an inexperienced big game hunter who decided to get too close to a lion and paid a price for that decision. The guy had probably invested a lot of time and money to be on safari, and in his excitement and bravado he had climbed out of his vehicle. He probably said, “Hey, watch this!”

I have been to some of those game parks, and I have seen the wildlife. It has never occurred to me to climb out of the safety of the vehicle and get closer because I know the damage those animals can inflict. It is no game to them—they are looking for a meal.
Peter is cautioning us to be alert because the devil is like a roaring lion that is looking for someone to devour. It is not a cowardly act when we avoid those things that might lead to an encounter with evil. In fact, it is a brilliant move to “be self-controlled and alert” and do everything in our power to resist evil by staying within the protective boundaries of our faith.

**THINK ABOUT IT
What is your action plan for staying away from evil and inside the protective boundaries of your faith?

**PRAYER
"Heavenly Father, there are days when I feel like prey for the enemy. I know that the fruit of the Holy Spirit includes self-discipline, which can help me walk protected wherever You call me. Help me to cultivate a fruitful life. Show me the opportunities for serving You through loving Your people. In Jesus’ name, amen."

[We have been told repeatedly that 'the god of this world, Satan, is in control until Jesus comes back. So beware! Stay in the Word of God and prayer. "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee." --(James 4:7)] angelwing
