Hi everyone,
I just finished a book called, "In The Path of The Dragon," by Francis Seagull. It's an autobiography about a man who suffered with chronic Epstein Barr Virus for many years. Over time he came to the horrifying conclusion that his body's inability to effectively keep the EBV at bay was due to mercury toxicity -- his amalgams.
While he doesn't go into extreme detail on safety precautions for removal or detox, he does share his difficult journey dealing with chronic illness and the fact that his chronic illness went into remission after his amalgams were removed.
This book really spoke to me because I'm struggling with chronic EBV as well.

Hi sandra, like so many chronic illnesses (and from what I've learned recently, mercury toxicity), the chronic Epstein Barr Virus symptoms tend to overlap with others. The key indicator for me was consistently high EBV titers (or numbers) in blood work which was taken specifically for the virus.
Basically I feel like I have Mono all the time. Chronic overhwelming, bone-crushing Fatigue, sore throats that are sometimes irritated, red and inflammed, sore glands which are sometimes inflammed, stomach pain, even my spleen and liver ache sometimes, headaches, foggy-fuzzy thinking, memory problems, nausea, sometimes bowel problems (loose bowels), sometimes loss of appetite, dizziness, blurred vision, symptoms of fibromyalgia, inability to be physically active (it takes longer than 24 hours to recover from exercising), frequent infections .... there are more symptoms but these are my main ones. Just feeling ill. Not all of these symptoms are bothersome all the time.
Basically chronic EBV is Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It's estimated that 95% of the population has EBV but only a small percentage experience symptoms. In a healthy person, the immune system will keep the EBV where it's supposed to be -- in a dormant state for life.
What I have learned is that people with amalgam and dental illness, oftentimes there bodies become incapable of keeping EBV in a dormant state. From what I'm hearing, so many people like me eventually go into remission or completely eradicate their chronic illnesses.
I also have lots of allergies, sensitivities and candida which comes with a host of other symtpoms. I've had those for 35 years.
Like so many people with amalgam illness and chronic degenerative diseases, I've got my work cut out for me. I'm not expecting everything to go away immediately when I fix my dental problems. But, boy it sure would be nice to feel well enough to go to the grocery store and cook a healthy meal without having to lie down and rest!

I am mercury toxic and also have an elevated EB titre in my blood. Think I read somewhere you can bring it down with olive leaf extract, a natural anti viral. Might be worth a try - surely can't do any harm?

Anonymous, thanks so much for reminding me about Olive Leaf Extract. You're right -- it is a really good anti-viral. Also a good anti-fungal and has some antibacterial properties as well, I think. My problem is that it is so good at killing yeasts that it makes me sicker while I still have amalgams in.
Perhaps I can experiment with it again after I've recovered from my amalgam removal and healthy dental restoration. It sure would be nice for my body to allow me to detox in a healthful way!

Olive Leaf Extract is a great anti-viral and is also effective against bacterial and parasitical infections. Studies have also shown that Olive Leaf Extract can help lower blood pressure and help prevent the formation of artery-clogging plaque build-up. I've have some personal experience using Olive Leaf Extract. Recently, I had a slight bout of food poisoning. After the initial sickness was over, it seemed my digestive system still wasn't quite right. Everything I ate seemed to either upset my stomach or cause a lot of bloating and intestinal cramping. I started taking Olive Leaf Extract, 2 capsules twice a day, and in 2 days (maybe 3 at the longest, I don't recall for certain), I was back to normal and felt great. No more digestive problems at all. I kept taking it for a week, just to make sure I had this thing licked. Anyway, you can read more about it by clicking on the link above, or to try it for yourself, click here: Olive Leaf Extract capsules
