Hi sandra, like so many chronic illnesses (and from what I've learned recently, mercury toxicity), the chronic Epstein Barr Virus symptoms tend to overlap with others. The key indicator for me was consistently high EBV titers (or numbers) in blood work which was taken specifically for the virus.
Basically I feel like I have Mono all the time. Chronic overhwelming, bone-crushing Fatigue, sore throats that are sometimes irritated, red and inflammed, sore glands which are sometimes inflammed, stomach pain, even my spleen and liver ache sometimes, headaches, foggy-fuzzy thinking, memory problems, nausea, sometimes bowel problems (loose bowels), sometimes loss of appetite, dizziness, blurred vision, symptoms of fibromyalgia, inability to be physically active (it takes longer than 24 hours to recover from exercising), frequent infections .... there are more symptoms but these are my main ones. Just feeling ill. Not all of these symptoms are bothersome all the time.
Basically chronic EBV is Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It's estimated that 95% of the population has EBV but only a small percentage experience symptoms. In a healthy person, the immune system will keep the EBV where it's supposed to be -- in a dormant state for life.
What I have learned is that people with amalgam and dental illness, oftentimes there bodies become incapable of keeping EBV in a dormant state. From what I'm hearing, so many people like me eventually go into remission or completely eradicate their chronic illnesses.
I also have lots of allergies, sensitivities and candida which comes with a host of other symtpoms. I've had those for 35 years.
Like so many people with amalgam illness and chronic degenerative diseases, I've got my work cut out for me. I'm not expecting everything to go away immediately when I fix my dental problems. But, boy it sure would be nice to feel well enough to go to the grocery store and cook a healthy meal without having to lie down and rest!
