IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR QLD VOTERS
The AVN is indebted to the many helpers in the community who have come together to poll candidates and parties in QLD. Below are the results of our questions which we hope you will take into consideration when casting your vote tomorrow. If you can share this information with any others in QLD who may not be on this email list, we would be very grateful.
This year, Labor have reintroduced compulsory full preferential voting, which means that if you do not mark the whole card, it may be deemed invalid. You MUST mark EVERY candidate with your preference. Whilst the AVN and those who have helped us in contacting sitting members and candidates have had few responses to our letter writing campaign. We have had several interactions with all the main parties, enough that we are comfortable to make recommendations on the basis of our single policy dilemma:
"Should parents and families be discriminated against on the basis of free and legal medical choices?" Our target answer was "no"! CONSUMER RIGHTS AND NO TOLLS This party came out strongly and clearly, early on inthe campaign, with a statement that was unambiguous and free choice friendly. Several of their candidates are among us in healthy living groups. Any No Tolls candidate running in your area will make an excellent voting option for you. ONE NATION We have had direct and private discussions with several one nation candidates, and have found them to be strongly pro-choice, if not strongly anti government-vaccination mandates. Allona Lahn whose assistance has been key in our efforts to poll the candidates, had a question to Steve Dickson in a public debate which received a somewhat lukewarm response. It's possible this is because One Nation do not want to hand the partisan press any free mud to fling at them. Their leader, Pauline Hanson, has always come out in support of free choice and One Nation is standing candidates in most areas. We believe they will make excellent representatives for us and will be helping them at polling booths around the Bayside this weekend. Any One nation candidate running in your area will make an excellent voting option for you. KATTER AUSTRALIA PARTY As far as I know, we have only had feedback from John Hill (Candidate for Condamine). He declared that he supported No Jab No Play and did not support "Anti-vaxers" at all. His responses suggested that he knew little about the issue but at least was being honest and direct with his answers. It may be possible to discuss this with him further and it does not necessarily reflect KAP policy in general. If you have a KAP candidate in your area I suggest you speak with them directly. There is potential they could support families and their medical choices. LABOR Little feedback has been received from Labor or their candidates. QLD Labor presided over the delivery of somewhat moderate No Jab No Play legislation last term. We know their federal leadership are strongly in favour of tightening No Jab No Play policies. If you have an ALP candidate in your area I suggest you speak with them directly. On current evidence, Labor is unlikely to be supportive of free choice on this issue and recommend that you do not vote for Labor. LNP Little feedback has been received from LNP or their candidates. Federal LNP presided over delivery of the original No Jab No Play legislation and have openly encouraged states to discriminate against families for their medical choices by implementing tougher No Jab No Play Legislation. We believe they are a lost cause. Do not vote for LNP candidates in your area unless you do not care about your right to medical autonomy. GREENS Some interaction has taken place with Greens candidate representatives where they ignored questions, pointed at the person asking and declared to their friend "that is an anti-vaxxer". You only need to read some of the textbook "Skeptic" power phrasing in their candidates bios to know they are anti-freedom of choice if not actual members of the hate group Stop the AVN (SAVN). Add to this their abhorrent leader standing up in the Senate to put forward a motion demanding that the AVN disband and openly supporting SAVN, and you have a clear picture of a lost cause (for now). Do not vote for Greens candidates in your area unless you do not care about your right to medical autonomy. Lest we forget

INDEPENDENTS Some independent candidates have clearly expressed moderate or encouraging free choice views in the lead up to the election. These are as follows; BARRY GRANT - BANCROFT STEPHEN ROSS - ASPLEY MONA HECKE - MERMAID BEACH DANIEL KWON - BROADWATER (Greens, but based on his response, there may yet be hope for him) Make your vote count and give your support to candidates who will support your basic freedoms when it comes to this issue.
Thank you again to those who helped us gather this information.
