2. Who runs the AVN? Who are the AVN?
The AVN is an incorporated association, registered by the Office of Fair Trading in NSW.
As an incorporated association, the AVN submits a financial report that has been prepared by an accountant at the end of every financial year. Our finances are open to scrutiny and examination by any member of the public.
The AVN Management Committee consists of a president, treasurer, secretary and general committee members.
We represent and exist for the benefit of our financial members.
Our committee consists of financial members of the AVN who are elected at an annual general meeting. All financial members of the AVN can attend the Annual General Meeting and these members are eligible to be nominated for positions on the committee and to also vote either by attending the AGM or by submitting a proxy form.
We also offer information to tens of thousands of non-members in Australia who access our website and information on our social media platforms.
Meryl Dorey was the founder and President from 1994 to 2012.
Greg Beattie was the founder of Vaccination Information Network (VINE) and President of the AVN from 2012 to 2014.
Tasha David has been the President since 2014
3. No Jab No Pay (NJNP) Lawsuit - Funds Update.
During a routine internal review of our bookwork, the AVN were able to identify an error that was made by our external bookkeeper provider who has since been dismissed and replaced. Due to this error, the amount that was originally released as being raised and spent for the No Jab No Pay (NJNP) court case was not correct.
We worked hard with our accountant and new bookkeeper to get the figures corrected and to ensure that all funds were accounted for. A pro-rata refund was offered to all contributors on multiple occasions. Anyone who requested a refund was issued with one.
All expenses relating to the NJNP lawsuit will be outlined in our upcoming Annual General Report, and all remaining funds have been kept untouched in our sponsorship account. At the urging of our sponsors, these funds will be preserved and used for the "plan B" options outlined in our newsletter of December 24th, 2016.
All contributors to the NJNP lawsuit were sent regular communications during the research phase. The feedback we received indicated that our sponsors wanted to exhaust every legal avenue. When our advice indicated that legal action was unlikely to succeed, all contributors were sent multiple communications offering a pro-rata refund.
If you are a contributor who did not receive these emails, please let us know.
4. Division within our community.
Over the last few years, some people have come into our normally united community whose words and actions have sown division and discord amongst us. These individuals seem to thrive on drama and anger and when they chose to use their influence to openly attack the AVN, we admittedly were unsure of how to respond.
Their accusations have targeted many of us who have devoted a lot of time and energy to health freedom. Most of all, however, these individuals seem to have concentrated their bile on the AVN and its leadership - past and present.
They have accused Meryl Dorey, AVN's founder and Tasha David, our President and the mother of 6 vaccine-injured children of being trolls.
They have accused the AVN more broadly of sabotaging efforts to bring the documentary film, VaxXed, to Australia (something which we worked long and hard through negotiations to successfully bring to Australia), and of censoring information.
These claims are incorrect, unproductive and have no basis in reality.
At first, the AVN tried work with these people in the interest of unity. Unfortunately, are many unsuccessful attempts and in the best interests of the cause, the AVN have taken a step away from these individuals. If any of our members or supporters have questions about this, we encourage them to contact us so we can answer their concerns and assist them in any way possible.
Every minute spent fighting within our community is a minute that could have been devoted to fighting the war for freedom of health choice in Australia.
5. VaxXed Documentary Update.
The AVN are proud and excited to have brought the film
VaxXed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe to Australia in partnership with its US-based distributor, Cinema Libre Studios.
It was a bumpy road, with multiple distribution companies in Australia toying with the idea of getting Vaxxed into cinemas, but ultimately pulling away from negotiations due to fear of being targeted by the same hate groups currently targeting the AVN.
In addition, the issues of pirating and unauthorised use of the film/brand have threatened to compromise the success of the AVN's efforts.
The AVN was fortunate to be in a position to assist Cinema Libre in releasing the film in Australia without a formal Australian distribution company making a deal. Cinema Libre Studios remain the distribution and rights holders for Australia, with screenings organized via the AVN.
The AVN looks forward to some exciting opportunities this year in relation to VaxXed, including a camera-man tour from the Sunshine Coast to Adelaide to collect parent stories. Should you wish to tell your story to our Australian VaxXed team, please email us here with your contact details.
We are also exploring ways to open up a system similar to the US's Gathr-styled events, where you are each able to host your own screenings.
We have also just worked out a method of getting VaxXed DVDs to Australia that will allow you to purchase Australian-formatted DVDs without paying a high shipping cost. We should have these items available for sale within the next 2 weeks and will be forwarding information to you as soon as they arrive. Wholesale pricing will also be available for bulk orders.
The AVN would like to thank the many supporters who have helped screenings happen so far, all across Australia, with a particular shout-out to the teams in Perth, Adelaide, Northern Rivers, and Sunshine Coast. We invite people who would like to host local screenings in their areas - especially areas that are far from capital cities - to contact us for help with setting these events up in your area.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your support in these turbulent times.
