Teeth cleaning while amalgams are still in ...... this releases a lot of mercury even when the amalgams aren't polished, right?

I'm thinking I might have to cancel my teeth cleaning appt. until after my amalgams are removed. I tried to keep Huggins' 7-14-21 day immune cycle in mind when scheduling amalgam removal and such ... but I forgot about the cleaning. My cleaning appt. is two weeks before my removal. I think I need to cancel that and do it after -- but I'd like to hear your take on teeth cleaning.

Thanks so much for all the help!!!

SomedaySoon

p.s. I like the Algin so far. Unfortunately, I can't tell whether I have a reduction in symptoms because I caught a horrible cold and, of course, my amalgams aren't out yetl Would you recommend that I take Algin the morning of my amalgam removal -- if so, do you have a recommendation on how much?

If these is abrasion to the surface of the amalgam, then yes, it would increase the release of mercury. If course, the dentist doesn't normally (so far as I know) purposefully abrase the surface of the filling, but it is likely that he'll do it accidently while polishing or doing some other cleaning work.

Personally, (especially) if you're within a few months or less of having a removal, I would not have the cleaning.

Absolutely. I personally would be sure my colon was full of it so I would take 4 caps 4 times throughout the previous day, and I would take 6 the morning of the removal, and then continue with 4 throughout the rest of the day when you get home.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks so much for the input, Russ. I'm a Nervous Nelly about all this and would like to try to minimize side effects, if possible.

One big difference I've noticed in myself over the past few years is fear and worry. I never used to be to so fearful. I think I recall reading that others experienced the same thing with amalgam illness. It would certainly be a delight to have that particular aspect go away!

Thanks, again.

Hiya Sharon,

The nerves are to be expected, i was also extremely nervous, coyuld'nt sleep the night before removal, when are you starting removal?

About the fear and worry.... I used to be such a spontaneous outgoing perso before i got so sick and now i say NO to anyhting new or anything that takes me out of my comfort zone, i worry about alot of things, like when im driving i'll constantly worry about having an accident and have these horrible thoughts in my mind... dont know where that came from cause i never had it before or if ive seen a family member i'll worry that maybe its the last time im ever going to see them again for absolutely no reason, its not nice at all, the fear has really disabled me in alot of ways, ive become such a bore because of it..... heres to hoping that will change somedaysoon LOL.

Take care and God bless <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

TGOss, your description just about sums it up for me. I couldn't have said it better!!

I begin the process of removal actually 2 weeks before the actual work. I'll be having allergy elimination and desensitization to mercury and metals done two weeks before. That's just something my holistic dentist has found to be extremely helpful. Then in July I'll have all 16 amalgams removed at once. My root canaled tooth will be extracted after that. I"m trying to keep to the 7-14-21 day immune cycle for appt. scheduling.

Here's praying that everything will be lighter and brighter (and not so scary) after I fix my teeth.

About fear...

I spent the vast majority of my life shy and afraid of many things including:
  • Public speaking
  • Car accidents
  • Making a fool of myself in public
  • Confrontation
  • Authority
  • Heights
  • and countless other things.

I was outrageously shy and had very low self esteem.

Since my mercury removal in July 2000, all of my fears (except my fear of heights, which has subsided about 50%) have disappeared. This is absolutely amazing to me and had been dramatically life-changing.

This information has not appeared in my personal mercury story because I wrote that soon after the removal and the changes had not appeared yet. I will be documenting them soon in an expanded version of the story.

I hope this is encouraging for you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for sharing that Russ, I have had those fears all my life too; I feel like I am finally starting to grow up at the age of 55.

Looking forward to reading another chapter in your success story.

I've said exactly the same thing about myself. It's amazing.

I got severe poisoning by the age of 12, so I only have "vague" memories of life before mercury toxicity, but I know that I was not the same person at 8 as I was by 11. I was confident, self-assured, and wanted to be an actress. I loved to sing and dance and had no problem talking in front of anyone. I was always on the nervous side, but I was very adventurous and just generally loved life.

But since getting fillings at about 9 my life has been ruled by multiple phobias. The anxiety crept up and up until it was totally out of control. I don't think it's unfair to say that amalgam ruined my later childhood because it did. Those years were hell and I think for a child to go through it because of dentists is horrendous. I always feel some kind of shame in talking about what I went through with the OCD, because of a sense of not controlling my mind, but the ones who should feel the shame are the ones responsible for such a terrible poison being put in the mouth and arm of a child.

I don't think many people realise how bad the suffering can be. A child of 10 or 11 should be able to go to bed and feel safe there, but I couldn't get into bed without rituals and then I'd have to have certain blankets, and then sometimes I'd spend an hour or two counting the flowers on the wall and crying because I'd lost count, thinking something bad was going to happen, so I'd have to start again or do a "compensatory" ritual that would cancel out the previous failure. Even when I was watching tv I didn't have control of my own mind as I'd have to do mental rituals. My clothes had to be folded a certain way with certain things not allowed to touch each other, my shoes had to be kept in a certian place, every object in my room had to be in a certain place, going around the house had certain rituals, and my school work had to be done in a certain way, I couldn't look at the stars, I couldn't walk on cracks in the pavement, the day had to be divived into sections and certain things couldn't be done at certain hours, or days or weeks. I had no interest in how I looked or taking care of myself and had no real friends because I wasn't able to make them or keep them if I did because I had all this going on in my head and got a hard time from other kids for being differnet. I was suicidal by 14 because it was so bad, but luckily I started to get better and I went to a new school where I managed to make some friends, but I was still suffering and never had a boyfriend or the usual things that teenagers do because of my problems.

Aswell as the mental there was the physical and I couldn't enjoy much contact games because of hypersensitive skin - if someone put their hands around my waist it felt like a burn, where as the others didn't seem to have that problem. At 13 I was terrified I had breast cancer, and just general things that children shouldn't worry about. They were awful years.

My OCD is 80% better now, but I still have a lot of anxiety from gas appliances to pictures falling off the wall. If I can get more improvement, that would be wonderful. I never thought I had any hope of recovering from this condition.

oh my gosh, I am so happy to hear this, all my life i have felt uncomfortable in my own skin, this is the only way I know to describe it And this makes me so relieved and elated to hear that there is life after mercury....my whole family is affected by this, and it is hard not to be OCD about something that makes us OCD...I am so happy to have found this forum, thanks so much to you all for sharing.

I just wish I could convince my sisters and brother and the whole world how important and what far reaching implications this affliction has. I am driving my husband and my friends nuts cause I am so excited about learning what has been wrong with me and my dysfunctional family for our whole lives.

Thank you Russ and Laura and to all of you for being here!!!!

Like Demi, i too thought i had breast cancer in my teens, i was convinced of it. I wouldn't see any doctors i just waited to die. Also i was scared of puberty, i didn't want to grow up. I didn't want to get married or have children, in fact i used to come out in a cold sweat thinking about it. I was certainly not a normal child, and i think alot of people thought that aswell because i didn't have that many friends. Things got better in my 20's.My shyness went a bit, so did my acne. It was probably due to getting my thyroid in control.

Demi, how long after removal did you notice an improvement in the OCD behaviour and what kind of chelation did you do?
