2017 Vaxxed screenings start off with a mighty bang!
Adelaide screening biggest yet!
On Monday 20th February, I flew to Adelaide for the first time to bring Vaxxed to South Australia. To say it was a great night feels like an understatement, because the night set up by this great team of committed warrior Mamas, (Tamara, Laurel, Alison, Carmen, Diane, Donna) was amazing to say the least. We started the night in the right way with a traditional welcome by Mickey O'Brien a senior Kaurna man and representative of the traditional owners of Adelaide, the Kaurna tribe. Then it was straight on in to the documentary. Even though I have seen this movie so many times it is still is so very powerful and moving and to hear the expressions of emotion of the crowd is something you just cannot get sitting in front of a TV or computer screen. These screenings are for those who don't know about this issue, but they are also for our community, giving us all a chance to connect with each other and to truly know that you are not alone in this fight for our rights and our families.
I knew how many had bought tickets but to see this in real time and in real people filling a cinema was still a surprise. In the end it was estimated (thank you Robert) that we had 357 attend and the energy in the room was astounding! Our panel which featured Kathy Scarborough (President of Vaccine Information Serving Australia VISA), Carmen Craggs (Naturopath) and Laurel Lanio (Long time activist and educator) were able to answer and speak on topics that were brought up by the crowd and all in all it was a great success! Our Adelaide community really led the way with their commitment and determination to attend Vaxxed, all other states will now have to rise to the challenge. Go Adelaide!
