Howdy all. I know it has been a while since I posted last. I had all of my amalgams out this past teusday. This amounts to 11 teeth with mutiple surfaces on some. I am on supplements through the provider to support natural detox. I am of course experiencing some odd things. The first I noticed was that my mouth did not taste like an old gym sock anymore! And that I actually HAVE saliva now. I even drool at night. Sorry I usually had to have water to sip constantly. My eye sight..I noticed a change on the way home, which was a few hours after removal. I can see the leaves on the trees, and they are greener. Things seem brighter, more colorful. I can breathe without my lungs burning. I did get tired after the removal, but after all I was in the chair for 5 hours! The second day..not as good. Felt sick, sleepy. I managed this with a lot of vitamin C. As long as I take 1000mg four times a day, I don't get that sick feeling. Today which is my third amalgam free day, I noticed that my feet are burning like crazy! And they are actually warm. Usually they are always cold. I do sleep like a rock now. Maybe to soundly. And weird dreams. Anyone use chlorella following removal and have good results? I know that I could not use it before..it made me really irritable.

I just want to say congratulations to you!!! I was really interested to hear some of your symptoms -- I have perpetual dry mouth as well and always have water with me. And I was going to make an appt. for an eye exam -- thinking I need a new prescription for reading glasses. After reading your comment, I think I'll wait until after amalgam removal! I'll start my amalgam removal in July.
Are you taking chlorella now or did you try it prior to removal?
I hope things continue to go well for you and that each new day will brighten as you continue to improve. I'd be very interested to hear how you do!

Now that your amalgams are out, you could use chlorella, but I would be sure to take Algin along with the chlorella. Here's why... Chlorella is going to help mobilize mercury from where it has been stored. Algin will bind to the mercury in the colon to make sure it gets eliminated and help prevent it from being reabsorbed back into the bloodstream. Often times, people begin feeling worse when they start detoxing too soon after their amalgam removal, simply because they are pulling more mercury out of the tissues than their body is capable of eliminating. When this happens, the body reabsorbs some of this mercury and redistributes it, in essence, re-poisoning you. So, watch how you react to the chlorella and if you start feeling worse, either increase your Algin intake or decrease or discontinue the chlorella until you feel better. I would also recommend taking lots of antioxidants, particularly vitamin C with bioflavonoids and vitamin E with selenium. The bioflavonoids work together with vitamin C to increase its antioxidant activity, and vitamin E require the trace mineral selenium in order to function properly. Both these substances are especially important for mercury toxic people. Here's some additional info, in case you'd like to know more: Vitamin C with Citrus Bioflavonoids, Vitamin E with Selenium.

Update: Burning feet. They began burning last night. After about 8 hours of burning and tingly they stopped. Now for the first time in maybe as long as I can remember. They are warm. And so are my hands. I have always had freezing hands and feet. Needing socks in the summer. No socks now. I sleep better too. More tired but deeper sleep.

Yes! That's a side effect that I really was not aware of, but very nice! All of a sudden, my vision was so CLEAR! I, too, could see things I hadn't seen for a long time. And the colours! BEAUTIFUL! Sometimes, even my double vision goes away. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have never heard of this before, so I read the article you posted. The first paragraph is a little misleading, but if you read through the entire article, the point is made that if you take vitamin C and selenium together, then take them together with food to ensure proper absorption. In fact, the article even mentions that vitamin C may improve the bioavailability of selenium. I believe this is true. Research published back in 1989 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicated that ascorbic acid (vitamin C) intake appears to play an important role in maintaining selenium homeostasis (balance) in the body. As always, I recommend taking a good quality vitamin C supplement that includes natural bioflavonoids, like Vitamin C - Citrus Bioflavonoids. For vitamin E, you want to be sure to get a natural vitamin E (the d-alpha tocopherol form) that also contains selenium (vitamin E works together with the trace mineral selenium). Plus, recent research has shown that vitamin E is actually made up of 8 components, each having different attributes and health benefits. I prefer Vitamin E Complete with Selenium for these reasons. You can read more about both supplements below: Vitamin C Vitamin E

I think I need to change my username! I tend to feel sick taking selenium. Not sure why. I did try chlorella but one dose made me really ill. I felt drunk but in a sick way, with a headache, nausea, weakness, sleepy, groggy..just really icky. I am thinking it it too soon...it is moving to much to quick. I don't know if it crosses the BBB or not, but it made my head feel funny. I will wait a bit on that.

Hmmm... Thanks for the information.
This forum is the only place I've ever heard of people getting bad reactions to selenium or chlorella. We've had some excellent posts by knowledgeable forum members as to what the cause may be, but it's good to know that there are some people who do have reactions, although it seems to be quite rare.

Actually on another dental site many people complained that the selenium made them sick. They were thinking that in some way it moved metals or something. While I am not really sure on that myself, it definitely makes the symptoms worse for me.

I've used chlorella with quite a bit of success before. It does make me feel very lethargic, but then I get highs of feeling joyous and alive. I once stopped taking it for a while, and then restarted a month later. I felt awful then, really awful. But after a while I was ok again.
I equate this to the highs and lows of chelating. I've heard Russ talk about the rollercoaster ride. What is the body doing during the highs and lows? Are the lows when the body is ridding itself of mercury? Pulling the mercury out of its organs?

I think it has to do with several things like mobilized mercury. Mercury, when mobilized, makes you feel bad but is a necessity of detoxing, and I personally believe, it is thrown off by organs—or expelled as I call it—in large, sudden amounts at irregular intervals. It may also be contributed to natural liver detox cycles that throw toxins into the intestines on a pretty regular cycle, although the toxins will affect your differently at different times.

Yes, my feet only burned for about 6 hours that day. Then it stopped and they were warm. With the anatomy and physiology training I had the only thing I can think to explain it, is that mercury impeded circulation, thus the cold extremeties. When circulation had been stopped for a long while and suddenly returns, it burns and prickles. Most of us have had this when we layed on a body part and it went numb.
