--How I Met My Spouse~

-SECOND-CHANCE
--SWEETHEARTS ~~

-WHILE A STUDENT
at Michigan State University in 1956, I had an excellent job busing tables at the Mason-Abbot girls' dormitory cafeteria.
One day, this beautiful brunette came dashing down the aisle to the serving line. I told myself right then that someday I would marry that girl. I asked one of the young women I worked with to introduce us.

Soon Marlene and I started dating--mostly library study dates, church and movies. I asked her to the junior dance, the J-Hop. We dressed our formal best and double-dated with a boy and girl from my hometown because he had a car. After the dance, we went to a restaurant where I spared no expense from my meager budget for a steak dinner.

About a week later, we went to Sunday church service and ate lunch together at her dormitory cafeteria. I was head over heels in love with her and asked her to go steady. She said she liked me very much but wanted to date other guys. So after that school year we went our separate ways; she got married that summer and didn't return for her second year.

After not seeing each other for 42 years, with several marriages and 12 children between us, we met again. Both of us finding ourselves single, we got married three months later. We've been happily married for 18 years now, and we fondly remember those golden days when we were two young students in love. We just had to wait for the right time.~ cloud9
