Back in February, I had the last of my amalgams out. I didn't realize that there was a special way to do this so I had my dentist take them out. I was okay for a couple of months. Thought I was getting better... now, I am not able to eat anything but bread and crackers. Anything the doctor's give me to take for the mercury poisoning only make my mouth tingle on the inside and outside. This drives me nuts because I get so hungry, but I feel like I can't eat anything because it will only make it worse. I don't know anyone that has felt or is feeling this way. I tried the ALA once and then a doctor had given me Spirulina. I took that once and it gave my mouth the tingles something awful that it was scary. I am also anemic from the mercury pulling the iron and vitamin E out of my blood. I've really become afraid to try anything now for fear that I will be doing more harm than good. Like most of you on this website; I too, have feelings of hopelessness and despair. I wish that there was someone or something out there that can help me. I haven't ordered Andy Cutler's book yet. A friend of mine said that she has an extra copy and is going to send it to me. I may just buy my own today.
Are there any suggestions out there that may help me? I would really appreciate hearing from anyone. Thanks.

are you taking any supplements? If so, what?
Metal toxic people have found that if you take certain supplements that help support things like the thyroid, adrenals, brain, etc., it can help ease the symptoms of having released mercury into your system as a result of having amagalms replaced, or by mobilizing metals like mercury as a result of taking something like ALA.
However, if you just got your amalgams replace you should not mobilize more mercury by taking ALA, which is one reason why things may not be settling down for you.
First thing, cut out the ALA, and support your system by being on the right supplements, and then decide on a proactive plan to slow and steadily chelate mercury from your system.
List the supplements you are on and you should get lots of suggestions as to what you are missing.

Hi. Can you take a protein powder shake? That might help a little. If you get a quality one (no aspartame etc) then you can add it to water or to non-dairy milk (I like rice best). If you boost up your protein intake, that might help your body repair better.
You could even look into meal replacement shakes that will give you more complete nutrients. Maybe someone here can advise a good one. When I was at uni and not always able to eat properly I used to take a meal replacement drink to give my body a boost.

PS Maybe you could try organic cornflakes with only a little milk or put protein powder in the milk and add it to the cornflakes? I have organic cornflakes every day as I am ok with them and I also am not able to eat a wide variety of foods.

Hello Anonymous, If I were in your position, I would first try to get my body to a stable position and hold it there. Only after achieving stability would I even being to think about chelating (mobilizing or detoxing mercury). The way to attempt to achieve this kid of stability is: (1) Take Algin ( source). I would take 4 Algin 3 times per day between meals. (2) Take sizable amounts of Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids ( source). This will help protect your body against mercury-induced oxidative damage. (3) Take Vitamin E ( source) to help protect the brain from mercury-induced oxidative damage. I would stay on these for 2 weeks and then take stock of where you are. Also make sure to follow a smart diet by following these guidelines: Living with Mercury Toxicity I would also recommend keeping a journal and rating various health issues each day and see if you can find patterns. This is important because getting to the bottom of this and finding what works for you is an investigation you must conduct. I would also try alternative ways of removing mercury quickly like sweating in a sauna. Removing mercury via the skin is one of the best ways to get rid of it. I hope you can try some of these suggestions and let us know what happens.

I'm really not on anything right now. I have tried to take Chelated Zinc, which went down okay. I just find that eating anything will cause the tongue to feel hot or tingly. I also tried a multivitamin, but it had copper in it and am not sure if I should be boosting my copper intake anymore.
I just wish that I could find a good doctor in the Washington DC or Baltimore area that has been "trained" in helping those with mercury poisoning.
Thanks all for the help. I will try to do a protein shake without the dairy - maybe with water.
Margaret.

Let us know how you get on. I'm trying not to take too much copper either and have a multi-vit that doesn't have any. You might want to take a supplement (shake opr pill) with B12 in it as that is an important nutrient to protect against nerve damage.
