Dawn
I think whatever precautions your dentist takes, you will still breathe in some vapour. Mine uses the Clean-up suction device over the individual tooth - which is supposed to reduce vapour by a factor of 100 - and I get a gold mask over my nose. I still feel the effects of amalgam removal for a few days afterwards - day two and three being particularly bad. I think there's no such thing as vapour free amalgam removal. The rubber dam and glasses sound like fairly basic precautions and could have been improved on, but it was better than having no precautions at all. Best to concentrate on chelating out the mercury you breathed in. At least all your fillings are out now. I still have 4 to go - hope to be finished by July.

Thanks Nicola, they did use the suction thing aswell and they were pretty thorough, its just that reading other peoples experiences made me think about mine, maybe i should have asked, it costs enough money! Dawn.

Dawn, that is highly possible. Vapors are very very dangerous, especially toxic ones. The problem with vapor toxins is that it goes in your system the second you breathe it.
Like Carbide causes cancer if you are near the vapors of it.
Very very bad.! - Mike

You did better then me at least my dentist only used suction (non mercury conscious).
IMO take algin, lots of vit c 10 grams + a day for a few days, and juice and some other vitamins.
Grats!

It could be why you are getting bad symptoms, especially as you had them done all at once - but at least you had some protection. This is what my dentist did, as far as I can remember:
warm wet patches on my eyes covering of my entire face with only hole for my mouth oxygen supply to my nose thick covering over my entire body and hands charcoal tablet under my tongue dental dam high suction
I didn't wash my clothes or hair afterwards though, as I had to travel almost 5 hours home and was very sore after having the tooth out and the bone drilled. It was a couple of days before I felt up to washing my hair as I was on painkillers., swollen and bruised. Next time, though, I will change and shower as soon as I get home. My coat was in the room when the filling was removed, and I'm thinking now maybe it has mercury on it too, and think I will wash it.

Also glasses over the wet patches.
Also it didn't occur to me to wash my hair bobble (I have long hair) which I was holding at the time, and I've been wearing it every day. I'll give it a rinse

Thanks for asking, Im not too bad today, but i do have ups and downs,im getting paranoid now about the stuff they put in my teeth, i thought it was all safe. Im losing my faith in mercury free dentists now, i might have all 3 extracted and be done with it, then i will truly be metal free! Dawn.
