I think whatever precautions your dentist takes, you will still breathe in some vapour. Mine uses the Clean-up suction device over the individual tooth - which is supposed to reduce vapour by a factor of 100 - and I get a gold mask over my nose. I still feel the effects of amalgam removal for a few days afterwards - day two and three being particularly bad. I think there's no such thing as vapour free amalgam removal. The rubber dam and glasses sound like fairly basic precautions and could have been improved on, but it was better than having no precautions at all. Best to concentrate on chelating out the mercury you breathed in. At least all your fillings are out now. I still have 4 to go - hope to be finished by July.
