Someone earlier posted that... The gelatine capsules vitamin E usually comes in, contain glutamate. Since I have taken vitamin E softgel capsules for years and have never heard of anything like this, I went straight to the source at Nature's Sunshine to ask if their vitamin E capsules contained glutamate. Here is their reply: Thank you for your e-mail. NSP vitamin E products do not contain glutamate.
Sincerely, Larisa Wright Associate Scientist Nature's Sunshine Products Glutamate (also known as glutamic acid) is a naturally-occuring substance found in both plant and protein. However, glutamic acid by itself (also referred to as "free" glutamic acid) reacts differently in the body than glutamic acid that occurs intact within protein. The following article on Glutamate (Glutamic Acid) may be helpful: Glutamate (Glutamic Acid) While I cannot vouch for other supplement companies, I do know that Nature's Sunshine's products contain no food additives like glutamate. In fact, I've taken NSP's Vitamin E Complete (with Selenium) for years. It is one of the best vitamin E formulations I've come across. Hope this helps clear up any confusion or worries!
