--Running Your Race Without Distraction
--BIBLE MEDITATION: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
--DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: -Runners train themselves to be focused on one thing – the finish line. They have one desire, and they are not going to let what is going on in the stands or who is lagging behind distract them.
Paul had the same sense. He, too, believed that you could not win a race by looking over your shoulder or glancing to the right or the left. You can’t see what is ahead when you’ve got your headlights on the rear bumper.
--ACTION POINT: --Paul forgot his past glory, past mistakes, past grief, past everything. Paul refused to let his past keep him from reaching his goal. What are you doing in your race to claim the prize of a closer walk with God? Take a few minutes over the next couple of days to reflect upon what Jesus Christ did for you on the Cross. In light of that, analyze how you are running your race. What changes do you want to make to better run the race? --Adrian Rogers~~ --Press on, brethren! We're almost Home. Eternity is forever with our Lord Jesus. Alleluia! [In regards to the post made prior to this one, we are told that Seth was the first one to call on the Lord. That should be our standard as well. Stay focused on the Cross. It is empty. He is not there! Jesus is at the right hand of Father God interceeding for us. ]~~

---Seth in the Bible ---Question: "Who was Seth in the Bible?"
Answer: Seth, a son of Adam and Eve (and the third one named in Scripture), was born after the Cain murdered Abel (Genesis 4:8). Eve believed that God had appointed him as a replacement for Abel and named him Seth, which means “set in place of” (Genesis 4:25). Later, when Seth was 105 years old, his son Enosh was born (Genesis 4:26), and Enosh continues what is sometimes called “the godly line of Seth” that leads to Abraham.
The story of Cain’s killing the righteous “seed” (Abel) and God’s raising up another “seed” (Seth) becomes the central theme of the divine plan. Evil is always attempting to rid the world of good, and God is always thwarting evil’s plans. There is always a Seth to replace Abel. It was through the seed of Seth that Jesus was born (Genesis 5:3–8, 1 Chronicles 1:1, Luke 3:38).
After the birth of Seth’s son Enosh, the Bible tells us, “At that time men began to call on the name of the Lord” (Genesis 4:26), which confirms Eve’s foretelling of the purpose of Seth’s birth. The word call also means “to proclaim,” which refers to men testifying about God to one another. It was through Seth’s family that organized, corporate worship of the one true God began to enter the fallen world. Though the descendants of Seth are not the first in Adam’s line to develop inventions or advances in civilization, they are the first to praise and worship God. Seth remained faithful to God. From Seth come the patriarchs, the nation of Israel, and eventually Christ. And it’s Christ who not only destroys Satan but also condemns sin and death (Luke 3:23–38). It was through Seth that the “Offspring of the Woman” came who would crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15).
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." [John 14:6]

-------- ---The Storms of Life
-"You may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuine- ness of your faith...may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." --(1 Peter 1:6-7) ---- --IN THE BOOK of Mark we read about a terrible storm. The disciples were with Jesus on a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee. When a "furious squall came up," the disciples--among them some seasoned fishermen--were afraid for their lives (4:37-38). Did God not care? Weren't they handpicked by Jesus and closest to Him? Weren't they obeying Jesus who told them to "go over to the other side"? (v.35). Why, then, were they going through such a turbulent time?
No one is exempt from the storms of life. But just as the disciples who initially feared the storm later came to revere Christ more, so the storms we face can bring us to a deeper knowledge of God. "Who is this," the disciples pondered, "even the wind and the waves obey him!" (v.41) Through our trials we can learn that no storm is big enough to prevent God from accomplishing His will. (5:1).[/color][/b]
While we may not understand why God allows trials to enter our lives, we thank Him that through them we can come to know who He is. We live to serve Him because He has preserved our lives.~~

"Nathanel said to Philip, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip answered, "Come and see."~ --(John 1:46)
~~~Nathanel's question still lingers, even two thousand years later...Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Come and see. ---Come and see the changed lives. *-the alcoholic now dry. *-the embittered now joyful, *-the shamed now forgiven... *-marriages rebuilt, the orphans embraced, *-the imprisoned inspired...
Come and see the pierced hand of God touch the most common heart, wipe the tear from the wrinkled face, and forgive the ugliest sin.
Come and see. He avoids no seeker. He ignores no probe. He fears no search. Come and see. Jesus is as close as the mention of His Name. 'Call on Me and I will show you great and mighty things that you do not know.' COME!
-'As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us." --(PSALM 103:12)
---I blinked back tears as I reviewed my medical bill. Considering my husband's severe cut in salary after a lengthy unemployment, even paying half of the balance would require years of small monthly installments. I prayed before calling the doctor's office to explain our situation and request a payment plan.
After leaving me on hold for a short time, the receptionist informed me the doctor had zeroed out our account. ---
I sobbed a thank you. The generous gift overwhelmed me with gratitude. Hanging up the phone, I praised God. I considered saving the bill, not as a reminder of what I used to owe but as a reminder of what God had done.
My physician's choice to pardon my debt brought to mind God's choice to forgive the insurmountable debt of my sins. Scripture assures us God is "compassionate and gracious" and "abounding in love" (PSALM 103:8). He "does not treat us as our sins deserve" (V.10) He removes our sins "as far as the east is from the west" (V.12), when we repent and accept Christ as our Savior. His sacrifice erases the debt we once owed. Completely.
One forgiven, we aren't defined by or limited by our past debt. In response to the Lord's extravagant gift, we can acknowledge all He's done. Offering our devoted worship and grateful affection, we can live for Him and share Him with others.~~
'Thank You for erasing our debt completely when we place our confidence in You, Lord. amen~'
--ONE OF THE Benefits of cell phones is that we now have virtually unlimited access to others. As a result, many people talk on the phone or text even while driving--sometimes resulting in terrible car crashes. To avoid such disasters, many areas of the world have made distracted driving illegal. In the United States, highway signs are popping up to remind drivers of special cell phone zones where they can pull off the road to safely talk and text to their heart's delight.
While it is a good idea to restrict mobile phone communication for drivers, there is another kind of communication that has no restrictions; prayer. God invites us to call on Him whether we are coming, going, or sitting still. In the New Testament, Paul's words advise each person who wants to communicate with God to "pray continually" (text). Paul brackets this divine open-door policy by encouraging us to "rejoice always" (v.16) and to "give thanks in all circumstances" (V.18). God calls us to joy and thanksgiving--expressions of faith in God through Christ anchored in continual prayer. It's even a good idea to pray while you are driving. Pray for safety, in Jesus Name. Pray for other drivers as well. Your prayer might be the one the Lord is waiting for, to prevent a wreck. Keep on praying! ~~
