Greetings all, I was just in the middle of an email to Laura, telling her how the chelation is going. I thought instead of writing directly, I'd share my quite positive experiences with everybody.

The chelation is definately making me feel better over all. Although, it dawned on me, in a flash, that I might also be gluten intolerant, so I did some testing of a gluten-free diet, and I feel unbelievably well. I wasn't surprised to learn that gluten and lactose intolerance has also been linked to amalgam issues. (I'm probably lactose intolerant too, but it becomes a bit difficult to manage - I've got to eat something!)

With regard to Algin, I specifically haven't been taking any when I've been chelating, after you said that it can reduce the effectiveness of whatever else is taken with it. Steve found that quite strongly that the alpha-lipoic acid was far more effective without Algin. So I'm now up to 50 mg ala every four hours for a week at a time, separated by a week of no ala, where I take Algin three times a day and L-Glutathione (250 mg) twice during the week.

The hangover effect seems to be gone now. I don't notice that I'm taking ala anymore - only occassionally a very slight dizziness, and then not much. The key seems to be taking it religiously every four hours (the 2am pill ain't so fun!)

So, all in all, with no gluten, and chelating, I'm feeling about 16 again, have started back at the gym, and really enjoying life with no brain fog! I realise I've been very lucky too. My effects were never overpowering, the amalgam removal went as well as could be expected, and chelating, while a hassle, does nothing but benefit me.

That is great, Eric. Thanks for sharing with all of us How long has it been now since you got your fillings replaced?

I think everyone is onto something with the gluten. I feel better on a low-gluten diet, and am going to try and reduce the gluten as far as possible - I'm finding it hard to eliminate it completely.

What were you taking the ALA with? It's making me feel quite bad at this very moment.

Hi Steve,

From my understanding, there are a couple of very important factors in relation to ala in chelation. I felt really bad the first couple of weeks on ala, but now it's like taking asperin. No problems at all.

The first factor, which isn't universally accepted, but which I would swear by, is to wait three months after removal of your last amalgam filling before you start chelating. This is because, no matter how careful your dentist was, you probably have absorbed fumes through the mucus membranes in your mouth and even your skin during the procedure. (It's worse if you didn't wash your clothes and hair right away after the procedure). Chelating too soon is liable to aggrevate symptoms and make you feel worse. This is because (stop me if you've heard this one), ala is liberating merucury from your fatty tissues. Having a high load of periferal mercury on top of it can overload your system and make you feel unwell. I didn't experiment with this - I just waited.

The second factor is not to take too much, and to work your way into it. I started at 25 mg (half a tablet) per dose. I'm now up to 50 mg per dose, but I'm taking it in a very regimented way. The first couple of sessions were over a weekend, and now I'm up to one week on, and one week off.

The third factor is timing of your consumpution of ala. This sounds difficult, but is absolutely critical. You must take the dose every four hours, never being out by more than 20 minutes. I take mine at 6am, 10am, 2pm, 10pm, and 2am. It's not much fun to wake up in the middle of the night, but you get used to it. This must be done because the ala liberates mercury from your fatty tissues into your blood stream for roughly four hours. If you leave it longer than this, the mercury is begins to settle back, in whichever fatty tissues are nearest. If this is your brain, so be it. The key to effective chelation then is follow each course of ala with a healthy dose of Algin, which works on periferal mercury.

If you don't take lots of Algin (as I didn't the first time I tried this), I had the 'hangover' that I talked about, which felt a lot like I'd had a bottle of red wine the night before. Really awful.

About twice a week, I also take L-Glutathione (250 mg) which was recommended by Russ and Laura. It's important not to take this with anything else, even food, as it's oxidzed really quickly.

I hope this helps. ala can be not so fun, but this regimine is working for me like a charm.

Eric

Hi Demi,

Good to hear how everybody's doing. I've got a really long message below (written when I forgot to log in) but I got them out about four months ago. I've been chelating for about a month now, to great effect.

I need to look into it more, but I understand that mercury toxicity is linked not only to gluten intolerance, but lactose intolerance as well. I'd like to give up dairy, but I can't get used to soy in my coffee! Obviously s reduction is better than nothing, but I found that when I eliminated gluten completely, the benefit was tangible the next day. It especially effected the brain fog. It was quite incredible. I'd certainly advise it to anybody to give it a try.

It makes sense physiologically - after all your gut is lined with lipid-containing cells.

Hiya Russ,

Sure, I'd be happy to write it up, although I'd quite like to chelate some more and see how it goes. That way I'll have more to tell. Not surprisingly, tthe more I read the more of my own ailments I realise could be (or have been) related to mercury toxicity.

I'm not taking any L-Glutathione. Is it that important?

I actually feel ok now. I'm not sure if that's thanks to the tablets of garlic I'm taking or not. Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to stick to the every 4 hours routine.

Hi Eric. It's great you're getting improvement so quickly I feel better, generally, from the root canal tooth extraction, but with a little "side-effects". But mentally I am a lot better.

I am virtually dairy free at the moment, although am not sure if it's helping or not. I think it is. I think there is some debate over whether it's lactose or casein in milk - or maybe both! Autistic kids are often put on casein free diets.

Have you tried rice milk? I found it to be the nicest of the alternatives to dairy. I don't know how it tastes in coffee as I've cut it out for the moment (very hard, lol, I used to have about 3 cups a day). I have Rice Dream at the moment as some of the others have Rapeseed oil in them and I've read that isn't good, so these days if I read something isn't good, I err on the side of caution. I'd like to try White Sun, but I can't find it locally.
