You may need to up your Algin intake for the time being, as it sounds like you may be reabsorbing mercury. Also, be sure you're getting lots of vitamin C. If you don't handle fruits or juices well (many mercury toxic people don't), then try a Vitamin C supplement, especially if it has bioflavonoids in it. Bioflavonoids contribute to the action of vitamin C and occur in nature with vitamin C. We use a supplement called Citrus Bioflavonoids. For more info on what bioflavonoids do, Bioflavonoids. Vitamin E is also important for mercury detoxification. It's good that you're not taking chelating supplements. Your tissues appear to be excreting more mercury than your body is able to eliminate without reabsorbing it. Try drinking more water and eating fresh (organic if possible) vegetables for the fiber. Hang in there...things will get better!

Hang in there, Dawn, and try to relax. Since having a filling removed, my anxiety is higher than normal. I can't sleep very well, am panicking a lot more than usual, everything seems "edgy" and threatening. I too am hoping it will pass and may have to put off getting more fillings out for a few months if this continues, until I am feeling up to the next quadrant.
If you're not working, try and do something you enjoy, like watch a favourite movie. Try not to think about the mercury too much, switch off a little, think about something else - I find that helps me, though it is hard. Take a bath, eat what you enjoy, treat yourself, it might take the edge off the anxiety.
How are you with sugar? I sometimes find I need something sugary or I get light headed. I read that some people actually need sugar where as others need to avoid it. I am no doctor, so don't know anything, but if you have cut out all sugar, you might want to see whether eating something sweet makes you feel better or worse. I felt spaced out today, but I had a chocolate bar and felt better. This has always been the case for me. At uni I would eat 2 or 3 bars of chocolate straight after the other. It could depend on whether the mercury is causing us low-blood glucose or whatever it is that some diabetics need to take something sugary - sister of a friend collapsed on the couch and they took her to casualty and all the nurse said she needed was a chocolate bar, and she was ok. Like I say, I don't know anything, and would hate to say something that makes someone worse, but just passing on what I've read. I think nerves need glucose, so it can cause problems if not getting enough - like shakes or fainting feelings.
If you eat meat, you might want to try turkey. It's high tryptophan, which helps reduce anxiety by increasing serotonin, and mercury interferes with serotonin levels. Chocolate also boots serotonin, but only temporarily.
That is interesting, Laura, about the fruit. I don't handle fruits and juices well at all. I find red fruit easier than the others, but still am having to be careful. i'm trying to expose myself little by little to more red fruit to try and build up tolerance to it. I think it is getting better, but hard to say as I have rhinitis today.

Dawn,
Did you mention in a previous post that you have an amalgam overlaid with a crown?

Hi Dawn. I don't know what coffee enemas are, but I think caffeine has to be avoided, or at least only taken now and then. I think either Cutler or Huggins says tea is better to take than coffee. I don't know about decaff. I think there is sulpher in coffee.
Are you eating eggs? My dentist says having 2 in the morning helps detox. I don't know. I'm going to try when I have the fillings done eventually.

In my experience, Algin can be taken as often as needed. Since it simply passes through the body, I don't believe you can really overdose on it. Just make sure you drink lots of water to keep your bowels moving, otherwise you could develop some constipation. But I've taken 20+ capsules in one day and never had any problems or constipation.
Regarding coffee enemas, I've never used them, nor do I know a lot about them. However, my concern is that I wonder if your body is absorbing caffeine through the intestinal lining? According to Dr. Boyd Haley, caffeine enables mercury to readily pass through cell membranes. Maybe this is why you've been feeling worse...the coffee enemas are enabling more mercury to enter your cells and do its damage.

Hi Dawn,
I've done coffee enemas in the past and had the same symptoms!! Its the caffiene, I don't know about you but I can't tolerate caffiene so it made me anxious/ panicy. Try something else in your enemas. Natalie/NJ

Coffee enemas are good in some situations related to detox.
Caffeine from the enema is absorbed into what is called the "entero-hepatic system" and delivered directly to the liver. This is an especially efficient and fast way to get coffee to the liver. This coffee stimulates the liver ducts causing them to empty into the colon enabling the liver to detox more efficiently.
Also, in more depth (from the web)...
"The alkaloids in the caffeine stimulate the production of an enzyme called "glutathione-S-transferase", which is an enzyme that facilitates the liver detoxification pathways. The coffee enema is safe even for people who are sensitive to caffeine because the coffee remains in the sigmoid colon, where it will not be absorbed, provided the proper amount is used and the enema bag is not placed too high."
The downside of drinking coffee is that coffee facilitates the transfer of mercury through certain cell walls enhancing its ability to damage cells, so mercury toxic people should avoid coffee orally.

Hi,
How is it possible that nutrients are absorbed through the colon but not the coffee?? I'm abit confused.
Thanks!

I think it's a gray issue here.
Some caffiene will inevitably get into the blood, but the key here is that very little coffee is needed to stimulate the liver a whole lot as opposed to the amount of coffee that would be needed if it was taken orally. Only a little is needed because it gets delivered to the liver via this special circulatory loop that connects directly to the liver.
There are also other advantages of coffee enemas that have to do with the way caffiene is handled by the digestive system that I heard about in a talk by Julian Whittaker related to diabetes but unfortunately I don't remember the details. It was a while ago that I heard it.

Hi Dawn. Sounds like you've been blasted wtih mercury symptoms, most likely from the exposure during the removal process. Usually not avoidable. mercury can interfere with your body's ability to detox itself, so it's a catch 22 situation. You are doing what you can outside the mercury by watching your diet and making sure you avoid sugar completely. Keeping candida at low levels by not giving it any food, can sometimes help a little, but obviously if the mercury level is too high, it can simply overwhelm you regardless of what you do. However, KEEP doing the diet and make sure you include antioxidants like selenium, vitamin E and vitamin C. possibly also some minerals like zinc, magnesium etc, plus something t help your liver due the stress like milk thistle.
But those things are only as some help WHILE you get the mercury OUT. Trying to do that is hard because mercury is easily moved all over the place and can you make very sick.
I would suggest strongly that you get onto a mercury chelation protocol and a safe one that minimises the redistribution of mercury like Andy Cutler's protocol.
To do this, you would need to buy DMSA (available online). To use a small amount such as 25 mg, or even halving that capsule to 12.5 mg. You take it every 4 hours (even throughout the night) for approximately 3 days non stop and then have a break of about 3 days or longer if you need it and continue to do this until you improve. Later you can add alpha lipoic acid, but only after using DMSA for a few months first to lower the blood levels of mercury. Lipoic acid is to begin clearing the organs and brain, but using it too early on can move more mercury INTO those areas if you don't lower the blood levels and extra cellular mercury out first.
Using DMSA on the safe protocol will sometimes help with the symptoms, but also begin to get the mercury OUT of you as safely as possible. It can help supress the symptoms, but can sometimes increase them. It varies. The main thing is, that it will get the mercury OUT OF YOU.
If you need to know more about this, you can join another mercury detox group called frequent dose chelation as well. People there are very sick and using this protocol to begin improving themselves. some of them have been harmed greatly by previous bad protocols and have finally found a safe one.
I hopeyou'll consider it. The suffering mercury can cause can be tremendous. In fact, many people undergoing the suffering of mercury can truly feel like they are in hell. So hang in there, you're not alone and realise that what you feel inside, whatever the bizzare symptoms, the scary thoughts, the fixations or obsessions etc, are NOT you. even if you think they are, they are truly mercury and it can do anything it wants to your mind and body. Believe me, I've been there and am there.

Thanks anominous, i was wondering if you could tell me your experiences and symptoms. I want to start DMSA but im so scared of feeling suicidal etc, i have 2 kids and they have seen me go through hell already. I get some good days sometimes and i pray to God to give me more good days. I know its a long road to recovery, im hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel.

HI dawn, sorry I didn't reply to your post, I ddn't know you had responded to mine.
My symptoms are numerous and distressing and crazy. I am ill everyday now and made worse by a recent dental office visit (just by being in there), so am repoisoned further. I experience exhaustion (existing tires me out), severe depression, suicidal thoughts, bizzare mental thoughts/fears, clouded vision, itching face/ears, cramping in the gut, pale face, extreme vivid dreams, stupor like condition, crying spells with salivating uncontrollably into a bowl, screaming fits, inner trembling, cold body temperature, unhealthy hair, scabs on scalp, no appetite, loss of weight and so it goes on.
My experience with DMSA is mixed. It does indeed reduce mercury over time. But can either worsen the symptoms, or reduce them. You can't always tell what you will get. But if you are heavily poisoned, I use this comparison. It's like a cup that has been filled up to the brim. Chelaton is like the spoon going into the cup, all you have to do is put a spoon in and the liquid overflows (like your symptoms). Until you lower the liquid enough, you will continue to get overflow (exaggerated symptoms). Once the mercury has been lessened enough, you should be able to cope easier and up the dose and go for longer periods. Until then? I cannot say it will be easy, it might be terrible.
I am very sorry you have kids to look after in your condition. I can only say to you to keep your diet as healthy and sugar free, because candida worsens mercury and mercury worsens candida.
Then if you take DMSA, make sure you go very low and take it every 4 hours as I mentioned, to keep it consistant and safer. Even if you only use 12.5 mg at first and go for only a few days. If you find it too much the first day? You can STOP immediately and wait for things to subside and then try again in another few days.
THe point is, to chip away at the mercury when you can, even little by little. It is very hard for many of us and a horrible situation.
If you do take DMSA, make sure you have an alarm and set it every four hours. If you miss a dose and forget? Do NOT continue the round, stop and wait for a few days and try again.
I wish I coudl be of more help. Keep praying, as I am and even if it is just to get you to cope easier for your kids sake.
take care

Anonymous some of your symptoms scream adrenal and thyroid problems - the inner trembling, no appetite, inability to put on weight, cold body temperature, bad hair. If you have adrenal exhaustion, any attempt to chelate will put you flat on your back, as the adrenals simply can't cope with the stress. Sounds like you need some proper adrenal support like hydrocortisone rather than glandulars, and some Armour thyroid medication. I was like you after my adrenal crash at Christmas - barely functioning, weak, trembly - I could do one thing a day. I am now on hydrocortisone, not something I'm not wild about, but I had got to a place where natural remedies weren't strong enough for me to function with my three kids, get my amalgams out, build up my thyroid medication, and get slowly better. Cortisol is essential to life - if your adrenals are not producing enough you cannot expect to function properly. By supplementing with hydrocortisone you would merely be replacing what your body should produce itself anyway. Getting onto adrenal support might be the first step to getting stronger, stimulating stomach acid and immunity, absorbing some nutrients, building up your thyroid meds and getting strong enough to chelate and deal with your cavitations. I know you have read Andy's book. He goes into some detail about adrenal support and thyroid meds. Taking HC and Armour isn't a walk in the park, but there is no doubt that I am doing better than I was, and I am more optimistic about the future. I know taking steroids won't go down well on a website like this, and it goes against the grain for me too. My view is, if you need it, you need it, and you sound like you need it. I was stuck where I was, with little hope of any improvement. There are places to order online, and other websites to read, notably http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormones/http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/I wonder if this might lead you towards another course of action? take care

HI, thanks so much for you suggestions. Yes, I have had a few of these said to me before too. I am probably getting some support in supplements for some of these issues. I hope they will help, but what you have suggested might too.
I believe it's the mercury and cavitations that are causing continual stress on my hormonal system, plus everything else, but alongside this. I developed a viral infection in 2003 and this is when I began to develop post viral fatigue and have never recovered since then. Later came cavitations and since then, I have been (as you said) literally flat on my back. I have no interest in life and would prefer honestly to die or sleep and never wake up.
Thanks again! I'm glad it's working for you. I never used to have these problems, even WITH the mercury poisoning.

Thanks for the response. I think i may have been suffering with adrenal fatigue along with mercury exposure so im taking adrenal glandular and so far im feeling some benefit, especially with the depression and panic. Im still having incredible night sweats, like im drenched from head to toe, still cry sometimes for nothing, and other things, also i have cut down on selenium from 200gms to 100gms, it could be this, all i know is before i was thinking was it really worth living in this state, all i want is to be like i was before. I have increased my dose of thyroxine and i am going to the endocrine clinic and ask them to prescribe Armour, they wont i know it, here in Uk, its very rare, for docs to prescribe armour, lets see! A couple of days ago i had to go back to the dentist , i thought i had an infection, but there wasn't, anyway i feel that i was exposed again to mercury, i just took loads of Algin before and after. All dental surgeries are lethal to me.

There are a lot of herbs, vitamins, minerals and other phyto-nutrients that have been studied for their effects on adrenal health. Here's a good article on The Natural Approach to Adrenal Dysfunction that was published in the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients. There's also a natural supplement called Adrenal Support info that contains many of the herbs and vitamins listed in the Townsend article. For dosage recommendations and ordering info visit Adrenal Support capsules Hope this helps,

Hi Dawn,
I only had great results with the LL's magnetic clay baths and the deap peat Moorbaths. Someone else had the same great results with Ionic foot baths. They are gentle at the same time as affective. Please click to IONIC FOOT BATHS on this mercury section of the forum and read all the posts. For more information click to page 1 of DMPS AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS on this mercury section of the forum. Then read the post from SCARLET saying ATTENTION EVERYONE. I believe these baths will help you tremendously as far as detoxing mercury and other heavy metals are concerned.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have high blood pressure, don't use the Moorbath!
God bless you, and I hope you feel better soon!!!

It is encouraging to find a group of people going through what I am. I had my amalgams, at least the first half removed wrong. I was also put on dmsa before the second two quadramts of amalgams were removed which I understand was a bad thing. I am having a very hard time getting rid of this stuff! I started in Nov. 2005 using dmsa under a good nutritional doctor and I seem like I feel worse the harder I try to chelate the mercury. The more I step up excercise and the better I eat, the worse I feel. Sometimes it seems like I cannot take it any longer. Someone please tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
