Hang in there, Dawn, and try to relax. Since having a filling removed, my anxiety is higher than normal. I can't sleep very well, am panicking a lot more than usual, everything seems "edgy" and threatening. I too am hoping it will pass and may have to put off getting more fillings out for a few months if this continues, until I am feeling up to the next quadrant.
If you're not working, try and do something you enjoy, like watch a favourite movie. Try not to think about the mercury too much, switch off a little, think about something else - I find that helps me, though it is hard. Take a bath, eat what you enjoy, treat yourself, it might take the edge off the anxiety.
How are you with sugar? I sometimes find I need something sugary or I get light headed. I read that some people actually need sugar where as others need to avoid it. I am no doctor, so don't know anything, but if you have cut out all sugar, you might want to see whether eating something sweet makes you feel better or worse. I felt spaced out today, but I had a chocolate bar and felt better. This has always been the case for me. At uni I would eat 2 or 3 bars of chocolate straight after the other. It could depend on whether the mercury is causing us low-blood glucose or whatever it is that some diabetics need to take something sugary - sister of a friend collapsed on the couch and they took her to casualty and all the nurse said she needed was a chocolate bar, and she was ok. Like I say, I don't know anything, and would hate to say something that makes someone worse, but just passing on what I've read. I think nerves need glucose, so it can cause problems if not getting enough - like shakes or fainting feelings.
If you eat meat, you might want to try turkey. It's high tryptophan, which helps reduce anxiety by increasing serotonin, and mercury interferes with serotonin levels. Chocolate also boots serotonin, but only temporarily.
That is interesting, Laura, about the fruit. I don't handle fruits and juices well at all. I find red fruit easier than the others, but still am having to be careful. i'm trying to expose myself little by little to more red fruit to try and build up tolerance to it. I think it is getting better, but hard to say as I have rhinitis today.
