Well, I was waiting for the adverse reactions to start after having my first 2 amalgams removed Thurday. They did...Friday morning I started getting "headachy" and irritable. I remembered what I had read on this forum and the stories, so I took 1 mg of vitamin C. I was feeling better within about 20 minutes. I had to take extra on Saturday and Sunday as well. Today I feel okay, but know I am not out of the woods yet. I have my vitamin C with me at all times!

Vitamin C is essential for mercury detox as it prohibits mercury-induced oxidative damage. I would strongly suggest using Algin as it absorbs mercury in the digestive tract and prevent reabsorption. I consider Algin the single most important mercury detox supplement. Here is more information about Algin: Algin Keep us posted.

Thanks, Russ. As I said in my introduction, I have done my homework. I started many suppliments 7-10 days before my trip to the dentist: Vit C, E, Zinc, B complex, Selenium, Algin, Cal/Mag, MSM, Glucosamine, Milk Thistle, Forskalin, Ginger, a Whole Food Suppliment with 58 organic ingredients, Wheat Grass powder, Mangostein tablets, extra fiber, and I can't remember what else! I am not taking Chlorella, Lipoic Acid or Cilantro yet, as I read they should not be taken until all the amalgam is out.

Hi Diana. What glucosamine are you taking? I took 500mg glucosamine sulphate for a while, before I knew about mercury poisoning, and I think it may have aggravated some of my symptoms because of the sulphate.

Demi: I am taking Vegan Glucosamine-MSM-CMO. I am very careful what I take because I keep kosher, and cannot take anything in regular gelatin capsules (they use animal products). However, it does contain MSM, which is a natural source of organic sulphur. I don't know if that woould bother you or not. Here is the site: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/dn/glu.html

I took msm just after my mercury removal and got very sick. The illness lasted for days even though I only took msm for about 2 days. I obviously mobilized a lot of mercury and I did this before I knew better, so be careful with msm and make sure you're strong enough to handle it.

Thanks Diana. I don't think I will take the msm for now. There is another glucosamine product that is chondroitism (spelling) but it can cause probelm for diabetics so as I have PCOS I haven't taken it.
I can't take gelatin either as I'm vegetarian.

You'll need to double-check this but it is my understanding that chondroitin (at least some sources) are derived from shellfish. Also, many brands of glucosamine and chondroitin are "sulfate" forms, which may be troublesome for mercury toxic people.

Laura:
You are right. Chondroitin is derived from shellfish. That is why I do not take it (non-kosher).

I have seen vegetarian Glucosamine chondroitin in our health shop but it has a warning about diabetics and is pretty expensive. How do you know if a product is sulphate or not?
