The Natural Dentistry Approach to Hygiene: Different and Better?
|
|
As D.D. Smith first observed in the 1890's, regular cleaning of the teeth could prevent or reduce the destruction of bone, surrounding and supporting teeth. This was the beginning of hygiene.!
In the body, the mouth is the only location where bone comes through the skin. That tooth-gum connecting space can be a breeding ground unlike anywhere else in the body as it is right near the entry point, the open door for every bacteria, virus, microbe, and toxin.
Much has been learned since the early years about periodontal problems and how long-term infections in this area can effect overall health. It is widely confirmed today in the medical profession, the connection between poor oral health and chronic systemic disease. Just ask the heart surgeons about the dental condition of their patients!
In Natural Dentistry, our main focus is not just shiny beautifully restored and cleaned teeth but more importantly, overall health.
To that end, the Hygiene experience in our Natural Dentistry Office is different in many ways.
What We Do
First, we ask lots of question to understand your dental condition, so we can serve you better.
Next, we test to make sure patients are in good health. We check blood pressure, test the saliva for Vitamin C and pH level, along with a blood oxygen test. Then, we take a sample of biofilm and look at the bacteria count with a microscope to see the kind and quantity of bacteria in the space between the gums and teeth. Specifically, we look for spirochetes as they are troublemakers in gum and periodontal problems.
As part of the patient education process we first swab the teeth with iodine then probe the pockets around each tooth. We compare these results with dental x-rays so you can see what we see.
With all data collected and a proper treatment plan established, you can sit back and enjoy the cleaning experience with advanced EMS AIR-FLOW Master Piezon technology . We can quickly remove plaque, stains, and tarter above and below the gum line with fine power and ozone water under pressure. The technology helps remove the Spirochetes as they are swimmers that can't be easily removed with brushing. It is a far superior method to deep scaling with instruments as that can spread bacteria into the blood stream. The AIR-FLOW Master is the best approach to removing the protective layers built up by the live-in bacteria. It flushes them out of their hiding places, exposing them to ozone which is hundreds of times more effective at killing viruses and bacteria than, for example, chlorine!
What We Don't Do
We do not use harmful chemicals in any of our procedures, such as chlorohexidine.
We do not use the antibiotic Arestin, replacing it with more effective ozone and oxygenated olive oil.
We do not use fluoride as it kills bones and causes inflammation.
Natural Dentistry - Better Hygiene Better for Patients
We can achieve the result of a "cleaning" that eliminates harmful bacteria, lessening the possibility of chronic gum infections and the subsequent systemic disease in other parts of the body.
And, we can do this without the side effects from antibiotics, fluoride, toxic metals and chemicals. We do not spread the spirochetes, but actually eliminate them with ozone, iodine and the use of what we call The Secret, a home care procedure that really works!
With the AIR-FLOW Master Piezon, we deliver a higher level of comfort to the patient. This makes the experience far less dramatic than earlier practices of scraping with curettes.
At the follow-up cleaning appointments, we check our results with the microscope to the satisfaction of the hygienist and the patient alike!
The Natural Dentistry approach addresses what is important, your health!
