Hi Dawn.

Have you eaten anything different this week? I too get good and bad weeks and am trying to keep a close watch on what I am eating to see if I can see patterns.

Are you following a mercury toxicity diet like no dairy? I'm trying to cut down on gluten, as people are said to have had improvement by a dairy and gluten free diet.

Are you ok with bananas? I believe they contain tryptophan (spelling) which helps relieve anxiety. Unfortunately I don't do well with them, but they are reputedly a good source.

Although I don't know how good/bad it is for mercury toxicity, chocolate also boosts serotonin, at least in the short term - but might cause crash of levels afterwards. I'm experiementing with plain chocolate at the moment.

I get OCD, which some people say it caused by lack of serotonin - and I believe mercury interfers with serotonin and nerve connections.

Magnesium supplementation might help aswell. I currently take it as it's been connected also with these kind of problems.

As you said in the title of your post, this is indeed the roller coaster ride. I talk about this in my personal story:

Hang in there and you'll have another great week soon.

Thanks for the replies, i take 800mg magnesium citrate everyday and have done for months, i dont eat any fruit because it contains sugar which is best left alone while detoxing, i have stevia instead. I havn,t had gluten since 10 mths ago or dairy. I think im doing the right things but im so sensetive, i,ve lost alot of weight and im eating like mad just to put the weight on. When my symptoms first arrived, i thought i had MS, i was bedridden for a while and couldn,t even go to the bathroom unaided, i didn,t know it was my fillings then, i thought i had candida so went on the diet and felt a bit better, after a few months i went downhill again and depression hit me, thats when i knew i had to have my silver fillings replaced to carry on with my life. Dawn.

Hey Russ, i read your story properly today and you got rid of alot of your symptoms within a few months, (well done), do you think it was because you had those DMPS things done after removal. Also you had all yours out together,i did it gradually not wanting too many symptoms as i was alreadyon deaths doorstep. I was wondering because i still feel so ill, even worse than before to be honest, and as i said im doing all the right things including Algin. I suppose i need some reassurance. Basically i only have 3 teeth filled, the rest were pulled out. The fillings are made of ground down glass, (i dont know the name of it) i think they are Ok. Does your body actually start dumping the metal out on its own without really doing chelating, i have bought natures sunshine metal detox but am so scared to try it as im feeling so awefull. I feel as though someone is standing on my head, depression, panic attacks, sweating at night, brain fog, feeling really drab generally. Also my ears feel clogged and hurt alot. I suppose we are all different, i just wish i didn,t have these ups and downs. Dawn

There is one thing that really has improved, my eyes. My vision is good again, i dont go blurred anymore, i still have a few floaters though. All last year i was having eye tests, i even had a digital xray taken of my eyeballs which are kept on computer and you can compare the photos each year, i was wearing my glasses most of the time but now i dont need them. Hi Dawn,

My symptoms (especially head symptoms) got worse after taking the Algin...Many people on this forum have had relief from the Algin, but I happened to be in the minority. I would stop taking it and see what happens.

Hi Dawn.

I personally would stop the Stevia - just incase you're sensitive to it. You could try Xylitol. It's supposed to have a lot of health advantages, including help bone regeneration and hormone and insulin balancing. The downside is that it treats yeasts infections - and I've heard candida is the body's natural way of protecting from mercury (I don't know if that is true). So treating the yeast might not be the best thing to do first.

What are you doing to detox at the moment? I know what it's like to be scared of taking things. Something you might want to take, if you're not, are:

vitamin c (I take 500mg a day)
vitamin e (I take 200iu)

Some people here take higher dosages, so you might want to experiment with what makes you feel better.

make sure your diet includes minimum recommended amount of protein a day (for me it's 40g).

I've heard that eggs are good for detoxing, but you might want to watch how you respond to them.

Are you eating meat? If not, you need to take a B12 supplement.

I'm trying occasional selenium at the moment, which is supposed to help detox aswell.

If you are eating coriander, you might want to stop for a while.

Drink plenty of water (preferably bottled) and be on the look out for things like aspartame.

You could also maybe look into zinc. I have a theory that some people excrete the mercury naturally better than others post-removal, and that is part of why they get better quicker. If you have a problem excreting the mercury, then you might need a little help. I've heard zinc can help with it - but it is, I think, a metal, so something to look into.

I hope this is of some help. i'm still learning and experimenting myself. Do you have a doctor to help or are you going it alone like some of are having to do?

Chloe, i would never have thought that about Algin, il see what happens without it, thanks.
Demi, where do i start, im on the candida diet, plus i take magnesium citrate 800mgs
Vit c,5000mgs
vitE,200mg
vitB complex
selenium,200mg
Milk thistle, 2 times daily
probiotics
soya yog with good bacteria
zinc 50MG
Algin
psylliian husk fibre
started 50gms 5htp last wednesday
I also do coffee enemas when im feeling really tired and horrible. Im wondering if epsom salt baths are a good thing or not because i do them alot. I drink a whole 5 litre botle of water a day. I also have lemon water and juice carrots and celeryetc. I do use alot of stevia i also have xylitol which you can now buy in Tescos here in UK, but because it is antifungal i,l leave it for now. I am very sensetive, when i got 3 teeth pulled that had mercury in them last year, i dropped a stone in weight, i could have done without that as i was already underweight, i was under 7 stones. I am now size 4 or 6, i used to be size 10-12. I dont like being skinny, it,s not healthy, i eat loads of protein, veg, good carbs, rice milk, i dont have dairy anymore, i miss it though. I have more food cravings now than before i got sick, how strange is that! Thanks, Dawn.

Hi Dawn,

Maybe you could try a lower dose of vitamin c? I've read that too much vit c can be inflammatory (I don't know if it is true - just passing on what I've read) - you might want to experiment and see what level works for you.

I have also lost some weight and am trying to put it back on as I think a little weight is probably better to deal with mercury toxicity. Not sure how to put it on, though! I used to eat a lot of cakes, biscuits and cheese, which are fattening and I don't now.

Maybe you could see if cutting down/out on soya helps? When I started eating a lot of soya I started to get palpitations. I like dessert, and what I have started making for myself is custard. I use one tablespoon of birds eye custard powder, a little sugar, and tablespoon of ricemilk, which I mix into a paste, and then I boil a bowl ful of rice milk and add it to it - not as thick as dairy custard, but it's nice. You could have the gluten/dairy free jam tarts that tesco sells in it, or Dove's Farm lemon zest cookies. They aren't protein sources, but they are nice <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It might not be the mercury per se that is causing the bad reaction, but something that the mercury has made you sensitive too? I think it might just be a process of elimination to see what it is - i.e. could be soya, stevia, algin etc and maybe only trial and error will lead you to the offender. Maybe trying to keep a note of what you eat and how you react might help?

PS You could make the custard without the sugar. I also have it with just a spponful of jam in the middle of the custard (like we used to get with semolina pudding in school) - it sweetens it.

The downside is I don't know if custard is gluten free. Birds eye also has a colouring agent in it, which might not be good, but I haven't looked it up. I'd like to find some organic custard powder. I also want to look up vanilla sugar, which is available at tesco, as that might be nice in it, but I don't know if vanilla is good or bad to eat.

I'm not sure if too much vit c can be inflammitory ie theres alot of info out there on mega dosing with vit c.

I took 48 grams a day for 2 months once to see if it would help my symptoms. Linus Pauling a nobel prize winner did alot of research on vit c and megadosing.

When I was taking that much vit c I sometimes had stomach arches/gas and or diaerhea if I took too much (thats what happens when you take too much vit c - its water soluable to you will just get rid of it).

anyways thought I'd post this info on vit c along

Dawn, I was thinking today, maybe you should cut out the zinc for a while. I believe it's a heavy metal, and you may be extremely sensitive to any metals. And it's possible to get zinc toxicity (like it is copper).

I also read that it's not good to exceed 2,000 mg of vit c a day.

I don't know if this would be good or not, but maybe you could stop taking everything for a few days and then reintroduce things slowly to your diet? (I'm not a doctor so don't know if it would be too much for your body if you stopped taking everything - others may be able to advice you). But I do think that detoxing badly i.e. using things that don't suit our particular personal needs can be worse than not detoxing at all.

Eggs are supposed to be good for detox - maybe you couldtake one in the mornings? I'm going to do this when my fillings are out (not that I want to eat eggs, being vegan in principle, but I have to make compromises, given the state of my health).
