I just don't understand why most people won't believe in mercury poisoning. Ever since I've found out about it, I have been looking more into it and taking practical steps to solving it. Am I just more open minded or what? I feel that I've been lucky to stumble upon a site that exposes it. Everyone excluding this site that I've talked to about that told me that it was non sense and that I was wrong. From family to relatives to friends to strangers - all in what seems to me are in denial. Yet I am a 100% sure that they're all wrong. I by the way know of none of them not having some kind of medical or emotional problems. The point is regardless of the amount of fillings in or the time in - it's toxic to the human body period.

Thank god my mom and dad believed me, I was so scared that they wouldn't. I would feel even more isolated if they would have just thought I was some wacko making it all up. But they have always been great parents...but most other people don't want to believe it.

I was in denial at first as well. Its a scary thing to confront, that most of us are being poisoned...and having mercury in your brain makes it harder to confront IMO.

I do think most people are in denial, they don't want to admit that they live in a sytem that they can't trust anymore. They can't believe that the government would let something like that happen, but it does all the time with toxins that gradually build up in our bodies and environment, such as pesticides and industrial waste.

People will come to there senses when its there time to understand...all you can do is make the information available for them if they choose to open up there minds to what is going on in this crazy world.

"in denial generally".....good point. Yes, my family is very skeptical, too. I feel like God and my husband are the only ones who have a clue about how much this has affected my life.

What's interesting is that my younest brother has had visible, unexplained tremors in his hands since his early twenties. He's now in his mid thirties and he is the most skeptical.

If I ever aquired a large amount of money I would pay to have my family's mercury fillings replaced, especially my cousin who is in a wheelchair with MS....I would probably have to tell them that it is for cosmetic reasons. Then they would really think I was nuts!

it took my parents and family a year to actually find out something is not right with me. before that, they kept on saying that I was doing this purposely.

I was in denial up until about 5mths ago, i was taking herbal meds for candida even though i had 6 amalgam fillings, i got really sick, so i thought the only option was to have them out so i did. I can't convince anyone to have theirs out though. Dawn.

I was just talking to my mom and she went ballistic on me about this issue. I was just trying to help her re: her health problems and she got really mad and said I shlouldn't be spending so much time on the internet looking for solutions and they they have just released a report saying how safe mercury amalgams are etc. etc. etc. She would rather trust her dr. who has, essentially, done nothing to help. I don't know what made her go ballistic, but I don't think I'll mention it to her again anytime soon.

exactly the issue I have with my parents. Both my Mum and Dad suffer from different symptoms on and off which i can relate to mercury. They both have mouths full of the stuff. Mum in particular has bad mood swings and other issues which I think are mercury related, and her mum recently passed away from alzhiemers, and she had a mouth full of mercury too. When I even suggest the issue however mum and dad and my whole family get pissed at me and single me out. I try and prove that its true by describing the improvement I have made in my health over the past year but they just dismiss it and say that it was probably some illness I would have got over anyway. My sister is studying to be a doctor and you would not believe some of the fights we have had, needless to say she doesn't believe in this stuff at all...

I can completely relate with your experiences.

I never cease to be amazed at the strong opinions that I encounter when I bring up mercury, whether it be from amalgams or vaccines, from people who know nothing more about it than the propaganda they've heard on TV. I have learned to be tactical about it in order to get through people's programming and preconceived ideas. I make statements like these, each in their proper context:

Talking to a salesperson in a store that has just asked if they can help me...

"Um, no thanks. I'm just looking. Oh, geez, oh yea. Have you heard about this thing everyone's talking about that there's mercury in silver fillings and vaccines and it's making people sick?"

I usually get a great response to this because I'm not expressiong my opinion. I'm actually asking someone else about their experience but have managed to stuff a statement in there without offending anyone.

Talking to a server in a restaurant when they say someone they know or their child has become ill or has behavorial problems...

"Wow. Have you heard that all these doctors are saying that mercury in dental fillings and vaccines is causing autism and all of these behavorial disorders like ADD and ADHD, and how they're saying that mainstream medicine is covering it up to avoid taking responsibility?"

This works great because, again, you're not stating your own opinion, and because the listener will see it as an opportunity to voice they own opinion. Plus, everyone understands how people try to avoid responsibilty for things they've done, besides, coverups are almost a fad today, so you could even say you're being stylish.

I have learned, when speaking to friends and family about these things, to not speak my opinion but rather to simply voice the opinions of others that they may respect, like Dr. Culter for example. You put them in a bit of a trap because if they argue with the opinion of a doctor in public, they will be viewed as arrogant, perhaps.

Finally, in speaking to dentists...

"The day after I had my mercury fillings replaced I felt better than I ever had in my entire life. Also, I had 17 ailments that I had all my life that suddenly went away. Plus, my shyness and fear of public speaking were gone the following year for the first time ever."

In this case, you have not said anything the dentist can argue about. You're simply relating your personal experiences. If they respond by saying, "maybe your problems were caused by something else", you could respond by saying:

"Hmmm. That would be quite a coincidence that all 17 things went away at the same time."

If they respond by saying that the ADA says that science has shown that mercury is safe, you can reply:

"The ADA also said that they have no responsibility for the damage caused by harmful substances used in dentistry because they don't install it."

This should get the attention of the dentist because they have just been put in the firing line, not by you, but by the ADA; the organization that claims to be a dentist's advocate.

Here's the quote from the ADA:

"The American Dental Association (ADA) owes no legal duty of care to protect the public from allegedly dangerous products used by dentists. The ADA did not manufacture, design, supply or install the mercury-containing amalgams. The ADA does not control those who do. The ADA's only alleged involvement in the product was to provide information regarding its use. Dissemination of information relating to the practice of dentistry does not create a duty of care to protect the public from potential injury."

The Superior Court of the State of California
Case No. 718228, Demurrer (October 22, 1992)

I've actually done each one of these things and It's amazing how shifting perspective a little makes a huge difference in the response you get. We just have to keep telling them, one-by-one.
